[seated in an ornate armchair, speaking in fluent, articulate, and rather pleasant-to-the-ears Gallifreyan]

It's actually a bit disgusting, hearing you lot speak Gallifreyan so primitively. Like chanting off - no, that metaphor's incomprehensible without a background in high mathematics. Fine. Like writing Calculus and finding everyone else doing basic algebra.

[then he changes to Russian - less articulate, of course, but he's comfortable with the language]

This one, though, this one's a bit ironic. Look at me, the Master, the deathless, blathering on in Russian. Haven't been in ages, should probably go back and put a few more legends into the locals.

[sips from his wine, and slips back into Gallifreyan]

At least the people of the city still understand me.

[draws a shuddering breath at the calm feeling, clinging to his arms. when she's calm enough, she looks at him, tapping her throat and then his, raising an eyebrow as if to say 'what are you speaking?']

[as far as he recalls, names translate, so...]

Gallifreyan.

[makes an 'oh really?' face, then sighs and says in German,] This is all terribly inconvenient.

[frowns, then lifts an arm in the air, about the height of the Doctor, then draws a question mark]

[frowny face; you'll need to give him more'n that, Lucy]

[oh, this is frustrating. taps her chin in thought, then points to her throat, his throat, then (sigh) ruffles her hair and does that annoying sniff the Doctor does, followed by another question mark]

[AHAH! Now he knows. He shakes his hand, and, uh - what's the best way to say, "Doctor 1 - Italian, Doctor 2 - Japanese."

Uuhm....

He holds up one finger! Then he does the frowny face. Because that Doctor is grumpier. And then he indicates a moustache with his fingers and does what should sound like a stereotypical Italian accent... erm, in Gallifreyan. But it's the tonality that matters.

He looks to her to see if she has that one]

[frowns herself, quickly trying to fix her hair, appalled at the tangled mess it had become. watches him, slightly confused, then laughs and begins gesturing with her hands, much like a typical Italian might. and then she grows serious, because how dare the Doctor be able to speak a language she knows when she can't speak it herself? whoever did this to them is cruel indeed]

[he nods at her frown - HE IS FROWNY FACE TOO - and holds up his second finger. There's a pause - what's stereotypical for Japanese?

So he releases a series of monosyllabic constant-vowel-sound mixes. He remembers what Japanese sounds like, but he's speaking nonsense Japanese]

[she just gives him a funny look, because she doesn't quite get that one. it does sound remotely like he's speaking Chinese or some other Asiatic language, and eventually pieces together that, hey! it might be Japanese! so she presses her fingers to the sides of her eyes, stretching them out momentarily before pointing at herself and nodding. followed immediately by making a face because ewww, she shares a language with the Doctor]

[he groans and mutters in Russian] I bloody hate that man.

[tilts her head, unable to understand, then makes the motions for the Doctor again and pretends to slap him, raising a brow toward the Master]

Are you asking for permission, or do you want me to?

[points at her, then himself, and makes a questioning face]

[points between the both of them, then slaps the 'Doctor' twice, a broad smile on her face]

[grins and gives her a thumbs-up]

[and she's totally hugging you because yay, violence against the Doctor]

[returned hugs!]
