T-This isn't an Obsolete Space, is it? [messes with her wristband and frowns] It won't give me a version. No data? [lifts her glasses slightly, then drops them back down] All right, this can stop now! It's creepy! It's like those rumours about... [shudders]

Those names sound rather foreign to me. I would hazard a guess at Japanese. Your terminology is also unfamiliar to me. By any chance, did you happen to come across a strange shop recently?

[blinks] E...to. Yes, I'm Japanese. They're my friends. And this morning I was going to Mega-baa's shop and there was this one...

Did it have a curiously metallic clicking noise inside?

Uhm, yes, it did. I thought that was kind of weird but they probably had some special program running to do that.

You believe that it is a special "program" causing this? I'm not familiar with the word, I'm afraid.

'Program'? Like computer programs. You're a n00b, huh?

A "noob"? I might be; you are most likely a better judge of that than I am, so I will take your word for it. And I'm afraid your clarification does not help me, as I've no idea what computers are, either.

Wow, you must be really new. A n00b is a newbie. [blinks] How do you not know about computers? I know some people don't use them but...

I believe, as I've talked to others here who are from different time periods than I'm used to, that that may be the reason for my ignorance. If I may ask, what year are you from?

2026. So...there's time travel involved?

Perhaps, yes. I'm not quite sure what is involved, but time seems to be of less importance than most of us are used to - though I did meet a gentleman here who is used to time travel. But yes, that does seem to explain it; my time period preceeds yours by 127 years.

[he chuckles with amusement, not rudely.] Certainly, Miss Fumie. In exchange for your knowledge of computers, I'd be happy to assist you with something. I am sure that when the time comes, we can find something for me to do.

I'll think of something. But that works for now. Hm, where to start, though? Well...okay, you know what electricity is, right?

I do, yes. Thankfully, our knowledge is not that far apart.

That's good. Okay, well, a computer is a machine that runs on electricity and there is a display monitor that shows you information and allows you to write or research. It lets you connect to the internet, too, which is like having tons and tons of information to look through.

That sounds quite amazing. How useful it must be. Is the "internet", then, like an immense storage area for information?

Mhm! It's all compressed data held on different servers. Like...pretend a server is a library. And all libraries are connected so you can order books from different ones. Except everything is instant. That's what the internet is.

That is an incredible concept. Electricity makes this possible? I wonder if I will see such a thing in 127 years, or if there is a different evolution between our worlds.

Well probably. This stuff is all in the last...30 years I think.
