[continuing on with his crazy talk] But if I've gone even madder, and we can't rule that out, why would you be here? Well, no, if you're - and it can't be an overdose, they've never affected anyone else, and there was nothing on the radio or through the telly, even if that girl-- [oh right, Gene's here. Here's to hoping that Gene will shrug it off!] Uh... I really don't know, Guv. But why haven't you picked up your phone? Annie rang me to say you hadn't been in and that you weren't answering your telephone or your radio.

[right. well, Sam was apparently bloody well loony and Gene was about to say something when he's interrupted by that little tidbit of information] What are you on about? Nobody's called me yet save Ray askin' where the bloody hell you'd gone, leavin' a case file out and your coffee on the table. When did she ring you? That little tart. She would go runnin' to you to lie about me, wouldn't she?

I would never leave a case file out on the table. Especially not when Chris could knock my coffee over on it. Why would Annie lie? She rang this morning, said there was a murder and they couldn't find you. I went to look for you here, but time stops here. So it can't be that you're here.
