Though, depending on who you are, that conversation may be of little importance in comparison to what she's wearing. Diva is wearing a long black robe, thigh highs, and matching underwear. At least the robe's top is conveniently placed to cover her chest, but otherwise, that's it. You can guess what Diva was doing before.}

{Just smiles, before quietly} Not that I said anything, but I hope that you do. People that say revenge doesn't solve anything, well, they've never had to worry about it before, obviously.

Or they might just be more forgiving than the rest of us.

I guess so...But it's things like that, that's why I'm supposed to be a doll in front of humans. Hei is the same way, right? I mean, with Li, that is.

[Blinks and frowns a little.] I...suppose I am. I never really thought about it that way. [Pauses.] All Contractors have to be able to act human. Meet the expectations of society. Most people don't even know that they exist, and it needs to stay that way.

[madamemoiselle]

{Smiles} See, if I had known that before, Hei and I would be really good friends, I think! We're pretty similar. Just different things. Contractor, Chiropteran, but the way that we have to live is the same.

[Smiles just a little.] I guess you're right.

Of course I'm right~ Ne, but Hei is better at pretending than I am. Having to sleep, well, that messes it up a lot.

[Smirks.] I suppose that would get in the way of things. [Pauses.] Part of me...wishes it didn't have to be that way, though.

[madamemoiselle]

What, pretending? {Smiles} Of course not. It should be more than part of you. But that's humans, I guess. They're afraid of what they don't understand. So they hate people that are different, whether its a person like us or even another human. That's how it is. Even if...Well, even if we'd like it to be another way.

[contract_star]

[Long pause.] But at least in the case of Contractors, humans have just cause to be afraid of them. Killing means nothing to a Contractor. [Glances at her.] It's a bit different for you. You have to kill.

[madamemoiselle]

See, but no human I've ever met agrees with that. Not even the ones here. They say that there are alternatives, like blood transfusions or just drinking enough to not kill them, but...Well, there are consequences for that. I am meant to kill people, so when I don't do that, then I get weakened.

{Thoughtfully} Like sister, for example! She won't drink blood unless she has to, so she's exactly like a human. Nothing is 'better', like speed, strength, anything like that. That's why I wasn't fed very often in that tower too. If we don't eat enough, then we'd be just the same as a human. Or, well, until you're like Saya and she almost starves herself. She's very weak!

The alternatives are good and fine. And I suppose you could simply kill people less often. But for you it's a need, whereas for Contractors it's a choice. [Smirk.] Not that they're exactly good for anything else, but still.

[Small sigh.] I feel a bit bad for her. For both of you. Trying to be something you're not almost never ends well. [Pauses and looks at Diva.] And you're the last two of your kind, aren't you?

Why do Contractors kill then? For fun?

{Her smile falters for only a moment} We are. And, well, I think that we'll be the last ones too. Saya only has had two Chevalier, and one of them is dead now. There's only one left for me to get pregnant. And, well, Saya is too stubborn to let one of my Chevalier have her. Solomon would, obviously, but she's too busy moping about her existence! So when Saya kills me, I guess that'll be it.

Because they're ordered to, or because they feel threatened, or because a human has found out what they are. All they need is a logical reason.

So you can only have children by your Chevalier? [Long pause.] Maybe...Saya will be able to accept you someday. [Doesn't really believe it since he's not one for hope, but still.]

[madamemoiselle]

A logical reason? Is that how it works?

Not our Chevalier, no. The other Queen's Chevalier. Saya can only have children if she has sex with my Chevalier and me for hers. {But that makes her laugh softly} No, it won't happen. One of us will die. When I finally get to sing, one of us will die that day. Of course, don't tell anyone else that. They wouldn't exactly be happy with the idea that I'm going into a situation that might just be suicide~

Contractors are completely ruled by logic. It's why they have no emotions, no conscience.

I see. [At the word "sex" he remembers how little she's wearing and purposely looks away.] There's nothing you can do? No way to convince her? [Nods.] I won't tell anyone.

[madamemoiselle]

But Hei seems to have emotions. I'm not sure about a conscience, because, well, that's a little harder to see. But you definitely have emotions.

{Giggles} Well, Saya isn't exactly going to forgive me. I mean~ Well, that one Chevalier, the reason he's dead is because of me, I'm afraid.

[contract_star]

...Maybe.

[Stares at her (being sure to keep his eyes on her face.)] You could run.

[madamemoiselle]

{Simply} Well, I've been doing that since I've been let out of the tower, so...I'm kind of tired of running.

[contract_star]

I can...understand that.

I'm sorry.

You don't need to apologize. It's nice to talk to someone that isn't arguing about it, actually!

[contract_star]

[Small smile.] I've never really been one to argue against the inevitable. Not much, anyway.

Although...you do realize that, even if she does succeed in killing you, even permanently--you'll still come back. The Twins don't let anyone stay dead for long.
