[the most noticeable feature of Menzies' appearance today is the bandage wrapped around her head from the injury she recently sustained on a case at home. though she's still dealing with the resulting headaches and a concussion, the fact that she's wearing a suit and her name badge are evidence that she's back at work. and predictably, she isn't letting it slow her down on the Plane either; she's on a mission today]

[at the moment, she is setting a pile of flyers on the information kiosk. after finding out from York about his murder, she's made it her business to tell everyone she can about Christopher. anyone who reads one of the flyers will find that it is a typed public service announcement, warning the Plane residents that the man known as Christopher is an armed and dangerous murderer. it includes a rough sketch of his appearance (that she pulled a few strings to get), which shows his brown hair and red eyes. it also notes that he is roughly in his 40s, gives an estimated height and weight, and states his origin as early 20th century America, Earth. in general, she's included all the information she has about him]

Now we'll see if anybody listens... [she eyes the stack of flyers, thinking if there's anything else she should add. but after a moment, she turns away with a sigh. it seems to be the best she can do, under the circumstances. she mutters softly:] And we'll see if there's any retaliation...

[with that cheerful thought, she heads away across the Plane, walking in the general direction of the kitchen]

[ooc: Menzies has also placed a copy of the flyer in the all the Plane mailboxes (except Christopher's), so feel free to assume your character has seen it!]

I don't think it properly captures my nose.

[...and that is exactly who she didn't want to see. but though she's tensed up at the sound of his voice, her tone is mock-surprised] No? I'll 'ave to talk to Ryan about that. He must be slipping.

[It is as if he doesn't notice the tension at all.

But of course, he does.]

You should. Aren't you a police officer? It's terrible if a criminal will get away from someone because of a bad drawing. Of course, I think it would be fun if a more creative artist like a Picasso did police sketches. Then it lets the imagination of the public roam free in thinking about their criminals, and it exposes them to good art, too.

Yeah? It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure the comparison would hold up in court.

[she pauses, not quite sure what to say because she still doesn't know what to make of him being here. from what York said, he can become dangerous in an instant, so she hasn't yet ruled out the possibility that he's come to do something about her meddling. still, she isn't going to jump to conclusions either]

So...did you come to autograph copies?

[inhumanity]

[Christopher, of course, is just being his inscrutable self. Chaotic Evil, Menzies.]

You want my autograph? I'm honoured. For a friend, of course!

[that throws her off so much that she isn't sure how to react. out of curiosity--and perhaps a bit of disbelief--she smirks at him and says:] Really? How generous! [she offers him a copy of the flyer, waiting to see what he does]

[Christopher takes out one of the crayons (blood red) that Steve Rogers gave him, and he cheerfully signs his name, humming. And then he hands it back to her.] For you, Patricia.

[her surprise and uncertainty are still clear in her posture, but she accepts the paper] Cheers.

So...I take it you're used to seeing your name in print, then?

[because let's face it--any normal person would have had a very different reaction to this]

[He waves the idea off with a hand.] No, we're very much more the 'urban legend' sort of assassin. Not many people know our faces.

[grip_on_reality]

I see. [she pauses, not sure what else to say. she doesn't really want to come out with the obvious question of "Are you really not angry about this?" because that just sounds like she's asking for it. so in her usual fashion, she decides to take one last jab at his reaction with a bit more sarcasm] Well, then I'm glad you're not letting the fame go to your 'ead.

[inhumanity]

[Bashfully, Christopher smiles and waves his hand.] Modesty has always been one of my highest virtues.

[grip_on_reality]

How admirable! [her words are thick with sarcasm. by now, she's realised that she's unlikely to get any real answers out of Christopher, and she definitely isn't going to ask directly]

[She isn't going to, no. He doesn't want to give any.] May I have one for myself?

[grip_on_reality]

[while internally she's not thrilled at the prospect of him having one to do as he likes with, she knew that was likely to happen to the minute she decided to distribute them. so, without hesitation, she picks one off the pile and offers it to him] 'ere. You can even frame it, if you want.

[inhumanity]

Mm, no, probably best if I don't. [He smiles and tucks it away.]

[she shrugs] Please yourself.
