[Hawk’s been spending some time in the Coliseum- it’s one way to attempt to rid himself of the energy that’s building up, when he can’t leave. So it’s no real surprise where that’s where his double approaches him, in the end.]
Making good use of the time you’re here, then?
[Hawk straightens up, taking a moment before he turns towards his doppelganger.] Ah, of course. Better to do something than not, after all. [reflexively, he gives the beginning of a smile, but he remains intent on the other him.]
Isn’t it? But then… you haven’t been very good at that of late, have you. Waiting so long to even get out… [the double begins moving, walking around Hawk, and Hawk shifts to keep the double in his sights.] And what has your merry band of misfits managed so far? What have you managed?
… Misfits? [they’re still in the stages of bonding- or at least that’s how it feels sometimes- but they’re still a team, however makeshift. And it’s easier to focus on that than let the ache of inaction linger. He settles into a looser pose, but his eyes are narrowed, watching the double.] Come on, now. We’re getting along much better than when we first met.
When they were going to treat you like another of the invaders, you mean? [the second Hawk tsks, and waves a hand dismissively.] But you’re trying to distract me. Don’t you realise that won’t work between us? [a step closer] When are you going to learn to talk about what’s truly important? To act, instead of hiding? [and now Hawk’s double leans in, and Hawk takes a step back, throat working, but nothing coming out] Or will you let them all slip away, without even trying?
[Hawk clenches his fists, and swallows before speaking.] That's not how it is. You should know that, if you are me. Which is what you're going to claim, isn't it?
Isn't it, though? [and the shadow laughs, spreading out its arms, eyes burning even brighter.] Well, who else could I possibly be? You've hardly told anyone here about that. [and he tilts his head, giving Hawk a considering look.] Are you so worried about what they'll think, after all?
