( it's been a very long day. a very, very long day.

rin had fallen asleep during his class again, and it hadn't mattered how much he'd glared at him from the front of the room – and called his name, and threatened with doubled-up homework for the foreseeable future – he just hadn't been able to stay awake, and yukio had found himself giving up nearly halfway through. let him focus his attention on the students that actually wanted to learn. it would certainly be a better use of his time.

despite the fact that he'd gotten his usual four hours of sleep the night before, and has already had a can of his preferred energy drink, he's beginning to drag. which doesn't bode well for the rest of the day, because there is still so much to do and not enough time to do it. he sighs, shoulders drooping as he fights back a yawn, and he decides that he may as well get up and move about, get the blood flowing back through his extremities before he turns to stone right where he sits.

remembering that he needed to stop by the supplies shop to replenish his personal stores, he figures it's as good a place to start as any. pulling himself out of his chair, his joints protest with a series of pops and cracks as he stretches out the kinks in his muscles. he then reaches for his ring of keys, fingers automatically curling around the right one that will take him directly from the dorm to shiemi's mother's shop.

except when the door opens, he isn't met with the walkway that will take him to his intended destination. he is met, however, with a starry floor and a seemingly endless expanse of unfamiliar territory, and if he's never been so confused before in his entire life – well, he surely is now.
)

… W-What?

( behind him, the door seems to have already disappeared, and dark brows furrow as he takes a few steps onto the plane. nope – nothing at all familiar about any of this. and he can't help but to feel a tiny, rising sense of panic as he turns first one way, then the other, searching for anything that might be able to tell him where he is and how, exactly, he'd gotten there. ) Rin? Anyone?

… Hello?

( he walks for a bit longer, passing by the information kiosk and subsequently ignoring it, thinking that he can always come back to it if need be. ( sometimes, he likes figuring things out for himself. if that doesn't work, sure, he'll read the material. but let him try this first. ) occasionally, his eyes drift down to the floor beneath booted feet, the endless constellations that make it all up, and he finds himself thinking that the laws of physics should not allow for this, that none of it makes sense, and all he ends up with for his trouble is a headache. a persistent one. )

This doesn't make any sense. ( well, neither does talking to yourself, kiddo. but you're doing that, aren't you? been hanging around your big brother too much. )
