[Oliver has tables set up outside of the theatre today. one is bearing a popcorn machine that quite possibly used to be inside the theatre, as well as a pile of buckets and a container of buttery topping. another is full of appetizers--cheese trays, salads, pasta, and more. the last is full of desserts--in particular, several plates of chocolate chip cookies. over the front of the theatre, below its own banner, he's hung a sign that reads "Best love stories of all time!" of course, since this is Oliver, the sounds coming from the theatre are part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. because obviously that's a love story, right?]

[Oliver himself is standing proudly behind the tables, grinning fit to burst. he cups his hands around his mouth and calls:] Come one! Come all! It's a PARTY! [and then he waves his hands in the air, as though that might attract more visitors. someone very observant might notice that he's wearing a new silver band on his ring finger. but all that aside, the smell of fresh popcorn is definitely carrying away from the theatre. perhaps between the noise and the food, people might be enticed to come by?]

[ooc: Oliver has come to the Plane today with some very exciting news to share! At the same time, I'd like to let you guys know that this is Oliver's last post. I will be tagging it--and his current threads--until things are pretty wrapped up, and then he will be leaving the Plane. With this post, I've finally brought Oliver to the end of his story. It's a story that I've been building with all of your help for nearly four years now! Thank you so much for helping to bring Oliver to this point. It's been an absolutely amazing ride, and I'm so grateful to have gotten to play him with all of you ♥.]

[Mu is in no way even remotely close to being in the mood for a party, but the sounds from the theatre had grabbed his attention. Oliver's proclamation only fueled it. So Mu puts on his best air of content neutrality and approaches the table.]

Is there an occasion, I wonder, or is this simply for it's own sake?

[Eithan's still not quite back to himself. Some weird shit went down, okay? And evidence of it still lingers - will always linger. It just makes his head spin if he thinks about it, but he can't not, so he's stuck in this weird, circular thought-swarm of--

-- Oh look, there's something going on in front of the theatre. Huh. With a shrug, Eithan goes to check it out. Distractions! Yes. Good. All of the distractions are needed. Perfect.

When he sees that Oliver is pretty much at the center of whatever this is that's going on, he does have to smile a little. He grabs a handful of food off of the trays once he gets closer, pretty much beelining for his friend.]

Hey man, what is it with you showin' up with food? Not that I'm complainin' - 'cause I'm not - but still.

[And then, he pops a little cheese cube into his mouth.]

[Oliver knows Jamie too well, because the smell of food is more than enough to lure him over to the theatre - and when he spots his friend, he breaks into a grin.]

Ah, I should've known that ye were the one behind that. What's the party for this time, then?

[oliverplus]

Hey Mu! [Oliver smiles happily at his friend] What, you don't think I'd have an occasion to share? [he's grinning fit to burst, though he tries to resist the urge to blurt it right out--and then gives in. partially, anyway] I asked her!

[oliverplus]

[Oliver grins as his friend approaches--though he pouts at that question] Because it's a party! Parties have to have food.

So. Guess what I did. [from his expression, he's barely managing to contain his excitement enough to stop himself from answering his own question]

[oliverplus]

Jamie! [Oliver smiles at the sight of his friend--in fact, he's especially relieved to see that Jamie looks to be in okay spirits. and if that isn't actually the case? well, he's going to do his best to rectify that] Do you want something to eat? And there are fizzy drinks inside!

[but at that question, he breaks out into a full-fledged grin] I asked her! [from the way he says it, he may still be in disbelief that this even happened] She--she said yes!

And that is the best party rule ever. [Grin!]

Uhhh. [He pretends to think really hard about it.] You single-handedly rescued a basket of puppies from a burnin' tower?

[Omnomnom, another cheese cube... I'm sorry Oliver, he's a little shit. ♥]

When don't I?

[It is food, after all. And the time spent since the last time he's seen Oliver has allowed the worst of what's happened to pass, Which means he is, in fact, in decent enough spirits - right up until he hears that news, which actually makes him much happier. Happy enough, in fact, that the grin stretches even wider, and about three seconds later he gives Oliver a rather resounding clap on his back.]

Hey, she did? Oliver, that's great news. Congratulations! Och, I wish Victoria'd wanted to come here today. She'd be thrilled to hear that too. When's the wedding, then?

Jamie, do you always have to wander off without a word?

[ Not that Jamie went far, and the party was pretty obvious, but the Doctor's still going to complain but. Oh.

He's interrupting something. ]

Ah, hello, Oliver.

[oliverplus]

[and now that Eithan has said that, Oliver is getting deja vu. he chuckles, amused] Not today, no! [after that comment, he pauses, meaning to let Eithan guess again. however, it's very brief--because he gives up, unable to contain himself] I'm getting married!!

Yay~

[oliverplus]

[Oliver himself is grinning fit to burst] In about three mon--

[but as the Doctor approaches, he cuts himself off--and smiles in greeting] Hiya, Doctor! Want something to eat?

[desertdaggers]

[it's caught Hawk's attention, that's for sure.]

Are we celebrating something?

[bonnypiperlad]

[Without missing a beat, Jamie glances back at the Doctor over his shoulder and grins.]

Now if I actually told ye I was going somewhere you'd wonder what was wrong with me. Hey, did ye know Oliver's getting married?

[punkblaze]

[He does go to make another guess, but by the time he's opened his mouth, Oliver's already barreling right along with the news! So Eithan just grins instead.]

No shit! Hah! [He claps his friend on the shoulder.] Congrats, man! I knew it was gonna happen.

[dododo]

[ Well, the Doctor's immediately distracted as he lights up. So much marriage around these parts, apparently. ]

I didn't! Congratulations, my dear boy.

[ Cue grabbing onto Oliver's hand with both of his. ]

I take it that's what's in three months, then. We'll have to stop by.

[The Doctor, having been fully occupied with affairs ranging from UNIT all the way up to the PM and back, appears to be glad for a break from all the nonsense he really has had no taste for but has put up with because of Harriet. At this point, he's fairly certain she'll be telling him she doesn't wish to travel any longer, but he wants to hear it from her before he decides what to do.

And really, the sight of this party is exactly the distraction he needs right now.]

Ollie boy, this looks amazing! And ohhh, Lord of the Rings, your favourite! [Beat.] ...It's not your birthday, is it? Have I missed it again?

[oliverplus]

Hiya Hawk! [Oliver waves at his approaching friend] Want something to eat?

[at the question, though, he tries very hard not to bust out in a grin] Oh, nothing much. I'm getting married. [his attempt at a casual tone fails as much as his attempt to keep a wide grin at bay--he just can't hide his excitement. so he starts laughing instead, knowing that wasn't the least bit convincing] Sorry! I guess I can't really pretend it's not big news.

[desertdaggers]

Certainly! [who could possibly turn down that offer? he goes for some salad first, keep the sweeter things for later.]

[it was a good effort, though!] It's very big news. Congratulations!

You do seem the type to host something like this for it's own sake.

[It takes Mu a moment to process that. Asked her what? His eyes, however, catch sight of the ring and it finally registers.]

And given your reaction, I will assume she said 'Yes.'

[oliverplus]

[Oliver just beams at him, though he does attempt a bit of protest] Hey, she could've said no, you know!

[oliverplus]

You will? [Oliver boggles at Two. he's delighted, of course, but he really wasn't expecting that offer from a Doctor he's barely met] We'll be thrilled to have you! [he beams at them both]

Yeah, three months! We just need time to plan things, really. We figured...well, you know. We've waited long enough already. [he gives Jamie a significant look at that. after all, this wouldn't be happening at all if it hadn't been for his friend's interference and encouragement]

So, did you want anything to eat? There's lots of food! [he gestures at the spread]

[oliverplus]

Doctor! [Oliver breaks out in a wide grin, delighted to see him again--it's been a while] Mine and Chloe's favourite, yeah. And, uh, no. It's not my birthday. [his grin widens. sorry, Ten--he's going to make you guess]

[oliverplus]

Thanks! Three months. [he's still grinning uncontrollably] It's going to be fantastic!

What about you? How've you been?

[oliverplus]

She did! [though it may not seem physically possible, his grin actually widens] We're getting married, Mu! Me and Chloe! [from his tone, he can't quite believe it's true yet]

[bonnypiperlad]

Aye, we both will.

[Not that Jamie wasn't going to either, but he's pleased that Two wants to come along as well - and maybe with that they can talk Victoria into going, too, although he can't imagine she wouldn't like going to a wedding. As long as nothing goes wrong with it, at least.]

It's about time, though. Ye did take awhile getting to that point with her, ye know.

[Pot, kettle, black. But he'd gotten there in the end too, hadn't he? But he can't help chuckling as he glances over to the large amounts of food that's laid out, then turns back and giving Oliver a teasing grin.]

Are ye sure ye didn't want to go and get a wee bit more first? I'm no so sure there's enough here right now.
