005 :: MINGLE! It's not just April Fools' Day.

[ In strategic places around the Plane are multicolored sticky notes -- on tree barks, on the information kiosk, at the entrances to the Bar, the Coliseum, the Theater and the Bath House; and at whatever thing that resembles a bulletin board at the Library. It says in (readable!) block writing:



Anyone stepping/arriving into the Kitchen will be greeted with an impressive rag-tag spread (finger foods, little tarts, canapés, etc.) which looks suspiciously catered. The host? Has his hair tied in a loose ponytail and the sleeves of his dress shirt rolled up. Regardless of who comes in, they'll be greeted with a bright smile and an enthused -- ]

Come on, dig in!


(( OOC: Ssssh~ it's Kiran's belated birthday celebration! He just decided there was far too much food in his reality, so the party extends to the Plane~ Tag in and tag among yourselves, everybody's welcome! ))

[He's been getting used to the Plane. Okay, that's actually a lie, mostly he's just been forcing himself to deal with these new circumstances. If he alone is going to have knowledge and access to a multidimensional nexus, best to actually learn about it.]

[Of course wandering the Plane trying to see if it has edges and marveling over the totally random buildings and bits of landscape here and there builds up a hunger. And there are nice smells from over here.]

[He's in a better mood than when he arrived, at least, so he's all smiles when he shows up.]

Oh...yeah, I guess. Well, I showed up a few days ago. I've--heh, kinda been getting used to things since.

[ After waiting for a time when the newcomer's hands are unoccupied, he reaches out a hand.]

I'm Kiran. I guess it's strange to say "welcome to the Plane", given that I don't live here but I think "welcome to the kitchen" would be more fitting; I kinda claimed this place for today.

[He nods a thank-you, seeing as his mouth is full. When he's finished his canape he shakes Kiran's hand.]

I'm Jin--it's nice to meet you, Kiran. Heh, I have to admit, I was surprised to see a kitchen at all. I mean. It doesn't really go with the whole, um, space motif, does it?

[There's a slight awkwardness to his tone and movements. He's not quite sure how to react after the last time they spoke, but he hands the box to Kiki.] It isn't much, but you were fond of this as a child. Happy birthday, Lamb.

[Oliver is most definitely not one to pass up on free food. after seeing the note, he heads into the kitchen curiously. his eyes light up when he sees the spread] Wow! It's like a posh party!

[only after that outburst does he spot Kiran. his eyes widen, and he smiles happily at the surprise] Hey, Kiran! Did you do all this? [he gestures at the food]

[ The gift is received with a broad grin. ] I'm still quite fond of it, until now. Thank you, Master.

[ He doesn't open it right away, and sets it down on an empty space on the counter momentarily. His smile sobers as he takes his Master in an embrace. ] ... and I'm sorry.

[ As far as he's concerned, the awkward can take a hike or come later, but this must come first. ]

[ Nice friendly handshake! ] Nice to meet you too, Jin!

[ He laughs at the remark. ] This is one strange place, yeap. A multiverse crossroads of sorts. There are a few interesting places here though. Have you gone to check them out?

Oh hey! [ Oliver is welcomed with a big smile, and Kiran shakes his head. ] Nah, I'm not that skillful of a cook. These were catered in back home and I decided to share. Come on, help yourself!

A couple of them, yeah. I was curious. How are there buildings and such here, anyway? Did someone build them?

[ Shrug. ] From what I've heard, it's more like they were brought in here. It's an effect caused by, well, people from different places -- universes! -- coming in here. I don't know all the details, but that's just what the Plane does.

[ Considering hum. ] I don't really know, but knowing how this place behaves, it's highly likely that it's not.

Have you heard of reality mergers?

[He sort of winces.] Yeeeaaahh...they were in that pamphlet, a man named Mu showed me. I'd rather avoid those.

Ah! Mu's my master! [ Shrugs, then odd little chuckle. ] I'll be honest -- I haven't been really successful in staying away from the mergers. Little bits still get through.

[ Kiran had taken to getting some glasses from the cabinets, and looks over his shoulder with an impish smile. ] It's April Fools!

[ And after a pause -- ] and my birthday. So! Soda or iced tea?

[Mu is somewhat taken aback by the hug, and it is a long moment before he finally returns it, wrapping his arms around his grown student and leaning his head atop Kiran's]

No, Lamb. I should be the one apologizing - for many things.
