[anyone who wanders into the Plane's kitchen today will be treated to an interesting sight--though first, they might be distracted by the noise. Oliver is in the kitchen, and he is loudly singing an off-key rendition of Can You Feel the Love Tonight that might even be audible from outside. yes, seriously. don't judge him]

[inside the kitchen, the counters are covered in food and ingredients--a jar of spaghetti sauce; a loaf of French bread; several containers of seasonings, including garlic powder; a box of noodles; a container of breadcrumbs; a bottle of Worstershire sauce; pots and pans; a cookie sheet; and a few eggs. currently Oliver is mixing a number of these ingredients in a bowl with some meat. his hands are red from the meat (with hints of spaghetti sauce and Worstershire sauce on them, too), but he looks quite cheerful, even if his singing is rather atrocious. it's Chloe's birthday, and he's determined to make her the dinner of a lifetime. this may or may not end in disaster]

[ On a break from his duties, Saga has in mind having some lunch at the Astral kitchen (and because he doesn't want to be at Gemini because Kanon's there at the moment and will pester him about his quietness more than usual because of reasons). ]

[ Walking in silence, he notices the horrid singing coming from the inside... ]

[ And just when he thought his performance of Lady Gaga was even worse...

The Saint finds out the voice belongs to Oliver. So, he stands by the door slightly dumbfounded and... dude, what's all this? Is this what it means to be in love?]

[Distracted by the noise is fairly accurate. Or attracted by it is good, too. Whichever it is, it results in Jamie poking his head in the door and staring at his friend in a slightly disbelieving sort of way.]

Whatever are ye doing?

[unfortunately, Oliver is too absorbed in his work to notice he has a visitor. sorry, Saga--he's just going to continue singing!]

[Oliver jumps about a foot because he--despite common sense--wasn't expecting to be interrupted] Whoa! [when he turns and sees that it's his friend, though, he grins] Oh. Hey, Jamie! I'm making birthday dinner for Chloe. [he sounds terribly proud about this]

Aye, I can see that.

[At least that the making dinner part, and it wouldn't be a stretch that it's for Chloe, either. That's not what's causing him to look at Oliver oddly, though.]

What's with that...what is it you're singing, anyway?

[sosweet]

[ Oh dear... In a single movement, Saga leans against the door with arms folded. ]

Hope that is edible. [ A hint of a smile visible. ]

[sacredashes]

[Asch stands near the entryway, staring quizzically. Oliver is weird at all times, but he still doesn't expect...

... this.]

[oliverplus]

[Oliver jumps because he didn't know Saga was back there. but at the sound of that voice, he gasps, whirling around] Saga! [and then he just stands there gaping at his friend, not knowing what to say. he'd probably hug him if his hands weren't covered in meat] You're...you're back!

[oliverplus]

Huh? Oh. [now he starts to look a bit embarrassed] That was, uh, from a film. [he reaches up to scratch his head--but thinks better of it just in time, eyeing his messy hand. so he reaches into the bowl to continue mixing instead] So how are you? How's Victoria? [he grins again, hoping Jamie will latch onto the subject change]

[Oliver is too absorbed to notice Asch standing there. he just keeps singing, mixing ingredients into the meat with his messy hands]

[He arches his brows for a moment, as it's not hard to see that embarrassed look.]

Oh, aye, I see.

[And he sees why Oliver's changing the subject, too, but at the mention of Victoria he can't help but smile.]

Aye, we're grand. I...ah, well, I took your advice.

[sosweet]

[ The smile changes into one hard to describe. A mix of emotions, perhaps. He can notice that Oliver found out about what happened but better to set it aside as if nothing. ]

I apologize for being absent for a while.

[oliverplus]

Oh, stuff it! [he steps toward Saga, hesitating, and considers his hands again. then he decides he doesn't care and throws his arms around his friend anyway--though he's trying not to touch him with his hands, so it's a bit of an awkward gesture. he lets go quickly, though] Welcome back! Are you...um...how are you? [he tries to hide his worry with a smile]

[his eyebrows go straight up at that] You did!? What did she say? [if possible, he's grinning even more now--truly excited to hear just what happened to convince Jamie to describe it as "grand"]

Well, not much at first. I think she was a wee bit shocked that'd I'd kissed her.

[If it worked for Oliver and Chloe, after all...]

But it turns out she feels the same way I do.

[Alright, time to intervene. He's not sure he trusts Oliver's cooking skills, especially when he looks like he just slaughtered an animal.

He steps up behind Oliver.]

What are you doing?

[sosweet]

[ Ah--

It's the first time he's being hugged like this... or hugged at all manly hugs, what are (not even Kanon). So expect an awkward reaction as well, Oliver: deep staring. ] ....

As fine as I can be, thank you. [ More staring. ] You seem... busy.

[desertdaggers]

[aside from being off-key, it sounds like quite a nice song. Hawk listens for a few moments, head tilted, before stepping in.]

Is there a special occasion?

[The Doctor can definitely hear that singing and you know what? He heads right into the kitchen, throwing the door open, and joins right in! Convenient too, since it's around the part when Timon and Pumbaa join back into the song.]

Oh, yeah! [he laughs, embarrassed, holding up his messy hands] It's Chloe's birthday! So I'm making her dinner.

[he hesitates then, wishing he could ask Saga if anything had changed. but considering his friend hasn't mentioned anything yet, he decides it's best not to push him]

What about you? I hope I'm not in your way.

[oliverplus]

Oh god, you did!? [and here he thought Jamie had gone with the "listen to your heart" nonsense. but no, this is even better, and he is just grinning madly now] That is grand! Not to mention fantastic! Jamie, congrats!

[he goes to give him a thump on the back--and stops himself just in time. oops, meat hands] So what exactly did she say?

Yikes! [Oliver jumps about two feet because WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!?] Asch! [realising who it is, he relaxes and grins, thrilled to see his friend] How are you?

Oh, I'm making Chloe birthday dinner. [he sounds rather proud about the plan, actually]

Oh! [Oliver jumps in surprise--but when he turns and finds Hawk there, he smiles] Hiya, Hawk! It's my girlfriend's birthday, so I'm making her dinner. [and he continues mixing ingredients in the meat with his hands]
