[For once, things are actually going pretty okay in Eithan’s world. He’s made some allies, he’s got some solid leads and plans, and there may or may not be some rumors going around in his favor... finally. It’s about time life stopped kicking him while he’s down. … Okay granted, he has this sinking feeling that maybe all of the good means something elsewhere is going wrong - or is about to - but... he’s trying not to think about that right now. And what better way to distract himself than with a puppy?

Well... okay, so the dog that’s sprinting back and forth and around in the sand isn’t much of a puppy anymore - certainly is in age, as he’s not quite a year old yet, but size? That’s another story. This mutt has some Rottweiler in him, and probably some German Shepherd too because that’s a big dog okay. Not like Eithan knows. Earth breeds... he’s never heard of any of ‘em. He just knows that his friend here has enough energy to fuel a friggin’ jet engine if he felt like it... sheesh.

So while the dog’s entertaining himself with the sand he keeps kicking up every time he changes directions, Eithan’s just sitting and watching, grinning. His headphones are around his neck, playing something loud and heavy-rock-influenced.

Anyone else wanna relax on the beach with a punk and his dog?]

[sam's still getting to know his way around the place, and he hasn't been to the beach yet - but when he finds himself there, he's pretty amazed to see that there's .. no .. water.

what kind of beach has no water? something to investigate, surely.

the first thing he sees is the dog running around wildly - and he can't help but to grin at the sight of it. he'd never been able to have a dog growing up, and it was one of those silly, petty things that he doesn't like having missed out on. as he watches that ball of energy kick up sand, he looks around, trying to see who he might belong to, and that's when he spots eithan.

has to be his, he thinks, and as he makes his way over to say hello, he shoves his hands into his jeans pockets and stops just before he comes up right behind him.] First time I've ever seen something as normal as a dog kicking up sand on a beach in this place.

[what's this? eithan on the beach with a dog?

oh, man, york is so in on this.

he doesn't even say hello to his friend - he simply jumps right into running around with the dog, kicking up even more sand with his steps as he gallavants along the beach.

looking every bit the moron he's come to be around here.] Dude, when'd you get a dog?

[That statement makes Eithan grin.] Eeexcept the beach has no water, right? And hey, don't say that too loud. This place might think it's some kind of challenge or somethin'.

[Yeah, the dog's going to keep darting back and forth. He is way excited because there is sand and oh my goodness! ... Eithan just shakes his head.]

I threw a ball out there a little while ago. I think he forgot about it in favor of kickin' up sand clouds.

[Eithan can't even keep from laughing when he sees York just run right over and join in the fun.]

Dude, don't even ask me that! I got him here, and fuck only knows how time works in comparison!

[he only stops after he's been running long enough to get himself winded, and once he does, he all but flops down onto the sand next to the other, nudging him gently with his shoulder.] So you got a dog here .. and this is the first I'm seeing of it. Huh.

[he shrugs, leaning back on his elbows and watching the dog continue running around happily.] What's his name?

.. Yeah, there's that. What kind of beach has no water, anyway? [he laughs softly and shakes his head, opting to drop down into the sand next to the other and settle. well, as much as those long legs will allow him to, anyway.

he watches the dog keep running for a minute before he speaks up again.] Maybe he lost it .. I bet if he started digging he'd find it again.

[Morgana does! She drops down on the beach and tilts her head, looking at what Eithan is wearing.] What are those?

Hell if I know. Maybe it's from some weird world with no water at all. [He laughs too.] How much would that suck?

Maybe. Probably. Actually, I've got this feelin' if he sees it again, he'll get excited about it all over again. But I think he's gotta get the sand amusement out of his system first.

[He shakes his head again, then turns to Sam with a friendly smile.]

Name's Eithan. Don't think we've met yet.

Hey, not my fault he usually doesn't wanna come back here with me. Otherwise, you bet your ass I'd be showin' him off. And it's Fang.

[And speaking of? Apparently you have a new friend, York. Because Fang definitely follows him over, sits in front of him, happily wagging his tail.]

Don't worry. He only growls at my sister, and only when I tell him to. [Okay, so that's a downright wicked grin right there~]

Huh, these? [He points!] Headphones. You put 'em over your ears, and you can listen to music that someone's recorded.

[He fishes the portable CD player out of his pocket, turns the volume waaaay down, to a level that's actually fitting for wearing headphones like a normal person... And then he offers the headphones to Morgana.]

Nothin' like that in your world, I take it?

[She looks at them curiously for a moment before putting them on.] No, and if there were, it would certainly be called witchcraft.

Oh wow, you've got a dog! Does he know how to play fetch? Oh, oh, do you have a cat, too?

[did you miss the guy in purple armor, Eithan? because he's jogging over to you now--whether you like it or not]

[That makes him snicker.]

Nah, not witchcraft. Just science and electronic stuff. [Smile!] Let me guess, music's pretty different too?

[~~oh goddess it's doc~~ He smiles a bit, nods.]

Yeah, he can fetch! Most of the time. You know, when he doesn't get himself distracted. No cat, though. I had a hard enough time convincin' my parents to let me keep Fang.

There is singing, and some play the harp or the lute. I couldn't identify anything this used. [EVEN THE DRUMS ARE WEIRD SOUNDING.]

[Doc stops in his tracks] Fang!? Wait... [he lowers his voice] Is he like...a vampire dog?

[because clearly vampires must have vampire dogs, right?]

[He smiles.] I kinda figured. Man, I'd like to hear that... [Hi, Eithan's kind of a music nerd sometimes.]

That's guitar. Two types, actually. And drums, and singing. Seems like most bands in Tharia have that particular arrangement these days.

[... .... Face in hands.] Dude, what even...

He's not a vampire dog. He's just a dog. I didn't name him, my sister did.

Is she a vampire, too!? ...oh wait, she's your sister. [that makes an idea occur to him, and he gives Eithan a curious look] Hey, are vampire-demon-aliens common where you're from? Or do they not have vampire dogs because vampires aren't common enough...?

Hi Fang! [thankfully, he's distracted from that tangent as the dog is heading in his direction now. Doc stops in front of him, leaning over] Want to play fetch? [he pulls a clementine out of...somewhere in his armor. don't ask] Here! [and he throws it. it lands only a few feet away--but thankfully it starts rolling?]

I don't know how we would hide your eyes, but some time, perhaps you can come to Camelot and hear it. [Morgana, stop bringing your friends to Camelot to hang out.

No.]

[She is interested, though.]

Huh. I dunno either. Think there's a spell for somethin' like that? [Because he'd really like to visit!

C'mon. A demon in Camelot - what's the worst that could happen~?]

And hey, if you kinda like that stuff, [He nods, indicating the headphones.] I could take you to Tharia sometime. One of the music stores, at least.

No. We're going extinct. That's why we have the vampire dogs to protect us. [Completely deadpan. ... But then he shakes his head and sighs.] Dude, there are no vampire dogs! He's just a dog! From Earth! Really. A friend of mine from here had a bunch of puppies he was givin' away, and I got one.

[Come to think of it, he hasn't seen Duo in forever. ... Probably the Machine at work, huh...? Oh well, trying not to think about that.]

So he's perfectly normal. ... And so am I, but I think we've established that you're not gonna believe me on that one. [Snort!]

[Oh, you bet Fang wants to play fetch! He crouches low when that clementine comes out, tail wagging, ready to take of running!! And sure, it may only go a few feet, but that doesn't stop Fang from taking off like a frickin' rocket anyway! He picks up the rolling clementine, happily squeezing it (because he expects it to squeak, like his toys) and ignoring the juices coming out of it as he happily trots back over to bring it back to Doc.]

... Okay one, why'd you have a fruit? Two... [He smiles a bit.] Looks like you've got a new friend.

I can look through the texts and ask Mu.

[OH WOW THAT SEEMS FUN Morgana is beaming.]

Truly? That would amazing.

Good idea. Someone's gotta know. [And he smiles. Yay, world-visiting!]

Yeah, of course! I could show you all kinds of different stuff in Tharia. Might be a bit of a culture shock. .... Okay, a lot of a culture shock. But I still think you'd like it.

[yelps] Really!? [because for a second, he takes Eithan seriously. this is swiftly followed by:] Oh. Yeah, a normal vampire, maybe... [he pouts]

Wow, good dog! [Doc pats Fang on the head, smiling behind his helmet] Here, let's try that again. [he picks up the clementine where Fang has dropped it--and he stops, squeezing it gently a little. he's making a face under his visor] You really live up to your name, don't you, buddy? Oh well. Here you go! [and he chucks the clementine--which travels just a few feet again, although thankfully it's still round enough to roll]

[at Eithan's question, Doc looks confused] Why wouldn't I have a fruit? Citrus is a great source of vitamin C! [he beams at the comment about Fang, though] Yeah! Too bad he doesn't have hands. Otherwise, I'd have him join my circle!
