[sam has spent a good portion of his time on the plane wandering. he still has the pamphlet annabeth had given him the first time they met, though he's mainly left it in the back pocket of his jeans and resigned himself to figuring things out for .. himself. because that's how he operates, and being in a different place - a different plane of existence (ha) - isn't going to change that.
when he discovers the library, the literary nerd in him perks up - of course it does - and despite the headache he feels prickling at the backs of his eyes. it's nothing but a dull ache, now, but it has the potential to get worse .. and he wonders if he can find something he can take for it without going back home.
because going back home means facing things he wants to hold off as long as he possibly can.
so he bides his time by pacing through the library, taking down random books and leafing through them, sitting down every so often to read something more in-depth. this is a good place for him - and though it does nothing for the headache, it does wonders for everything else.]

Anyway, Sam will find her sitting on the floor in one of the aisles, back resting against a set of shelves, with a huuuuge tome of a book in her lap. She looks pretty damn focused, too.]

when he finds jacqli, he very nearly steps on her - because he's not exactly low to the ground, and she's rather .. small. he makes a small, surprised noise in the back of his throat, stepping back from her and offering a stuttered apology.] Sorry! [he says hurriedly, careful not to drop the book he'd been walking with right on top of her head.] I .. didn't really expect to find anyone else in here.
no subject
No one else? Hm. I actually thought it was strange for a library to have so few people. Then again, this is the Plane...
[She places a ribbon she's using as a bookmark over the current page, before she closes that hefty thing and stands. ... 6'4? Meet 5'1. Haha.]
Don't apologize. It's not like you should have been looking for someone sitting in the aisle.

[he trails off, and when she stands, he finds himself almost looking straight down at her. wow .. she really is small. goodness.] Still, I'm usually more observant than that. I'm Sam, by the way - [he holds out a hand, because again, that's the normal thing for him to do, right? sure.] Still kind of new around here, but .. I'm getting used to it. I think.

[She's so used to being so small that his height really doesn't faze her... She adjusts her grip on her book so that she can take his hand. She's still not so sure why humans seem to like this handshake thing around here, but hey, she'll roll with it.]
Call me Jacqli. [She nods once.] How new are you?
no subject
he's still not entirely sure what kind of reading material he's going to find here, but .. all the more reason to look, right?] New enough, I guess. I've been here a month, give or take. [he shrugs, like it isn't too much of a big deal. which, it isn't, because it means he doesn't have to think about - or deal with - what's going on back home.]
It's nice to meet you, Jacqli.

Octoberplotthat amnesia-and-fear madness. Lucky man.] You really are new then. But you seem to be getting around well enough. You too, Sam. [She considers the book in her hands.. then moves to set it on one of the counters. If Sam bothers to look, he'll find that it's actually a book about Earth, circa the 1930s.] And welcome to the Astral Plane, I suppose.

That you, Doctor?
[maybe it's silly of him to assume that. please forgive him; it's just that the Doctor seems to have a knack for interrupting him when he's here]

thankfullyhadn't been around for all of that. he has enough problems going for him at the moment, thank you very much, and if he'd known just what had happened beyond what jamie had told him ..he'd be pretty glad to know he missed it.
he smiles at her, just for show, because he's still feeling a little out of his element whether he wants to admit it or not.] I like to think so, yeah .. I'm still trying to get used to everything, though. It's weird, to say the very least.
[yeah, sam. talk about pointing out the obvious there. sheesh.
he does notice the book, and it has him perking up just the slightest bit.] The 1930s, huh? History buff?
no subject
[he pauses, then comes into full view.] I haven't seen you before. I guess that doesn't mean anything considering I'm still meeting new people even after being here for a month.
no subject
[His question, though... that makes her visibly pause. She tilts her head slightly to one side, nods slowly. Heck, you might even call it her version of perking up...] Yes, I am. But actually isn't related to what I'm reading right now. [She places her hand back on top of the book.] This isn't the history of my world. I assume it is history for you?

knowing that she doesn't come from his world perks him up, as well - and he wants to ask more, but he's pretty sure it would be rude to do so right off the bat.] For me, it would be .. yeah. Where are you from, if not the same world as me?
[curiosity's gonna get the better of you, sammy ..]
i'm sorry that face is adorable and it makes me smile.
the concern in oliver's voice has him the slightest bit concerned, because so far, he hasn't seen anything too unusual ..] It's been okay, as far as I've seen .. though everybody seems intent on telling me that I need to watch out. Got any useful information that isn't cryptic?
no subject
[Another earth kid... goodness, but they seem to outnumber the rest of the Plane people, don't they? No matter.] Ar Ciel. No one else here from Earth has heard of it, so I'd be surprised if you have.
and you counter it with an adorable expression of Sam's!
no subject
well, at least when it has anything to do with anything but dean.
he tilts his head to the side at her answer.] .. Not a place I've heard of, no. I'm sorry. [and he shrugs.] What do you think it means, to have all kinds of people from different places come here? There's got to be some kind of reasoning behind it, right?
[oh, sam, when are you going to learn that logic doesn't always apply to everything?]
he .. makes that face a lot lmfao. ;;
his brows furrow. there's that mention of experiments again.] I've .. heard about them, yeah. But so far I haven't actually experienced them.
[no pun intended.
really.]

I think it has more to do with random selection than anything. No one knows the real purpose behind this machine yet, but we're all here, yes.
[A thought occurs to her, and she crosses her arms, thinking...] It does make me wonder why there seems to be so many different version of Earth, though.
no subject
[eager to be helpful, he adds:] Was there anything else you wanted to know about? I've been here for a long time, so... [he waves a hand vaguely]
no subject
which .. never makes sense.
sam makes a face - he'd really been hoping to have something figured out about this place by now, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case at all. he tilts his head at her quizzically.] Are there no other versions of your world?

[Wouldn't that be an interesting entry into that database she can access...
Which, speaking of, she's actually decided to show to someone! She brings one hand up, acts like she's typing on the air. A holographic screen appears off to their side - Jacqli's pulled up a computer database menu of what looks like information about the Plane and the people who come here.]
