[Kay steps onto the Plane with one of his huge guns, again looking tired. Not covered in slime this time, good for him, but looking and sounding more than a few decades... younger? Otherwise he smells, acts, and moves pretty much the same.]

If anyone can stand to have a drink with me and tell me about their day, I could use the distraction.

[Welp, he figures people will just think that it's the Plane's fault. Might be better that way. No, it would be better that way. When there's things that he doesn't want to talk about, he really doesn't want to talk about them. He'll just make everyone else talk about themselves.]

[Menzies' black eye has healed by now, so she's back to looking like her normal self. at his declaration, she steps over to him and then, without feeling the need to ask, starts toward the bar] Looks like you've 'ad some day yourself.

[it's an off-handed comment--not a request, just a probe. she wants to know if he's up for sharing]

It was a bunch of the same old same old, really. [He huffs in a resigned way. She probably remembers what his 'same old' is like.] Yours? [And he's headed for the bar, too. He wants beer.]

[she shrugs] The usual for me, too. Apparently, on the planet Bfetan, divorces are made legal by fighting a bladed duel. Who knew.

[thankfully, they're not far from the bar. he definitely looks like he could use a drink, and she's always up for one herself]

[He winces at the word "divorce" despite himself.] Tough thing for folks to go through even without the sharp edges. [Thank goodness for weird interdimensional spaces where someone can get an unending supply of alcohol when the mood strikes them, and for cheap. Probably the best thing the Plane has to offer.]

[she glances at him at that comment, as it seems a bit more...emotional...than what she usually sees from him. using "emotional" in its loosest possible sense, of course]

Yeah, even worse when a neighbour sees it through a window and calls us in. [she sighs] They're being verbal about the fact that they don't think they should be charged for a "cultural practice," but considering how many Bfetanian cultural practices involving sticking people with blades, I can't exactly let 'em off the hook.

[she heads into the bar first, going straight to pour herself a glass of whatever's on tap] What do you want?

[Probably. The divorce is still a sore spot. There's even a little comical thought of, "If only Elizabeth could see me now," in the back of his head.

He sighs.]

You got regulations for cultural expression on Earth? Most of ours are based in the idea they can't threaten the native population. So if they kept their pigstickers to themselves, not much we could do outside of insist that they pursued a permit and special clearance.

Beer is fine. Whatever's there.

[she glances at him, her expression wry] You say that like we've got regulations for aliens. But... [she frowns thoughtfully, taking a sip from the glass of orange substance that just came out of the tap] Yeah, I think it's beer. [she pours him a glass, sliding it his way]

Well, I'll look into laws on cultural practices for domestic aliens. But either way, it's not like they're gonna press charges, so about the worst they've done is disturbed the peace. [she takes another drink of orange liquid] Thankfully, they're moving anyway, so they won't have to worry about lingering suspicions from the neighbours. Could 'ave been a lot worse--at least it wasn't a duel to the death.

You should. [The treaties and regulations helped out a whole hell of a lot.] At least it sounds like it's gonna clear up. [He picks up his beer and takes a few long drinks, before putting it down and wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.]

Has the Doctor been giving you any trouble lately?

[What, the guy seems like he's made out of it!?]

[she smiles wryly] That'd be easier if some of the others knew they exist. But yeah, not a bad case, really. [because any case where no one is left dead or devastated is a good one. she has a feeling he understands that aspect of the job well]

[that question makes her chuckle] Nah, he 'asn't come round. Back 'ome, I've only actually met 'im a few times. Of course, that's not to say he 'asn't been troubling people here, but I 'aven't seen it. What, 'as he been giving you trouble? [because she wouldn't be surprised if the answer is yes]

[He shakes his head mid drink.] Nope. This is the first time I've been back around in a while. [With the other matter mostly dealt with, he didn't really feel the need to rush.]

Probably not a bad idea. But I take it this place caught up with you? [she gestures at him, figuring that's a safe enough comment] It did something like that to me a bit back--I got to relive my childhood. Literally. [her expression is wry]

Are you gonna be stuck 'ere for a while, or you think you can go back like that?

[because she knows what being stuck here is like]

Yeah, I can head back whenever I like. I've been like this for a while. [Like this is a strange way of putting it, but the only way he thinks he can. He takes another long drink.]

When did you get stuck here? Outside of the time which the one guy spelunking through your cerebral cortex for bits and bobs.

[she raises an eyebrow at that, taking a drink as well] 'ow are they taking it?

[she makes a face at that comment] Well, I wasn't exactly stuck 'ere, but I stayed when I was, ah, nine. [she shifts a bit, still finding that weird to talk about. but she's glad she only popped home and came back during that experiment; no one in her world needed to see her like that] And like I told you, during that mess with the candy. [she sighs] Guess this place just doesn't want us to stay away!

Mostly okay. [Aside from the million complications related to it.] Yeah, I remember the candy thing. Seems like when it gets people it gets 'em pretty hard.

[Well, that voice is familiar, and the face as well, at least somewhat, but Jamie still winds up staring for a moment at the man's arrival. Luckily the big gun's also enough of a clue that he's got a fair idea who it is.]

Kay?

[Must be the Plane doing things again.]

Aye, I could use a drink. Things've been...well, I'm no so sure how to put it. Interesting, ye could say.

That's a relief. Your job must come in 'andy sometimes. [she smirks faintly] And at least you've got your memories. [because she's not actually sure whether he would have known about his current job yet at that age. not to mention she's glad she doesn't have to re-explain this place to him]

[she makes a face] That's this place all over. [and that calls for another swig of her drink] But... [she frowns, figuring this is probably a good time to bring it up] It doesn't just go for us. 'ave you noticed anything wei--well, weird by our standards--at your 'ome?

Good timing, Sport. [Yup, it's Kay.]

Let's go get that drink. [He goes over to Jamie and puts his hand on his shoulder to walk with him.] Fill me in. I'm ready to take a good long break for a bit.

[Yes, he did mean to phrase it like that. That's how long "good long breaks" last for him.]

[He puts his gun on the bar and starts fiddling with some of the settings, sighing in a way that puffs out his cheeks and is very reminiscent of his older self.]

Yeah, I remember everything. But as for weird, I'm probably the wrong person to be asking about that. Weird is uneventful and quiet.

[Someone else wants distraction too, so it's a fair game. Tear approaches cautiously, as she's never met this man before, but if he's here then it's unlikely he will attack without provocation regardless of the fact that he's armed.]

Perhaps not the sort of drink you're speaking of, but general comraderie can be provided.

I've had a drink with all types, even those that can't. I'd appreciate the company. [He's carrying his big gun sort of lazily across his shoulders, so it's definitely not primed or trained at anything. He nods towards the bar.]

Don't believe I've spoken to you before.

[she smiles, amused, as she idly watches him mess with the gun. he's certainly recognisable--it's why she didn't see any need to confirm his identity in the first place] Good point. But the thing is, I think this place is combining worlds again. Has that 'appened to you yet?

[without waiting for an answer, she goes on to explain:] I've been sharing newspapers with the kid--Conan--for a while. But now there's a calendar at the station that thinks it's 1990, and I don't even know who's from that year. But I've also got Amer--ah. [she stops, not sure how to describe this] Well, oddly enough, some of the aliens are talking about sudden new visitors. With American accents. [she raises an eyebrow at him] Any thoughts on that?

[He hesitates about what he's doing.] Uh.... Not really. [Because British people in New York aren't really that noteworthy. Hell, the head of the MiB is British. So nothing unusual he's noticed.]

Should I take a look?

You might want to. [she sighs] Not that there's likely anything to be done about it if it is this place, but I'd rather know where it's coming from.

Anyway, the aliens on my side said they ran into them at this Chinese joint downtown, so it might be a Chinese place on your side, too--if I understand this right. Know of anywhere the aliens 'round your area like to get Chinese?

[He gives Kay a slightly puzzled look at the phrasing, then shakes his head, dismissing it. He'd shrug, but Kay might think he wants him to take his hand back. Jamie's not particularly bothered by that, so he figures he might as well let it stay there while they walk and save some confusion.]

Well, here's a good place to be doing that, that's for sure. Not entirely sure where to start with things, though...

[Or maybe he is, as he suddenly snaps his fingers.] Oh, wait, I know. Have ye started to have any of those merger-things with people here?

[He pauses.] Yeah. Wu's. Some of the agents get food there, too. Wu took all his cues from old TV shows but otherwise it's good food.

[He squints and sits up a little bit straighter. Wu's not reported anything unusual but of course he wouldn't. Cagey little shit.]
