[There's a young boy hunting in the forest, cautiously creeping along from tree to tree while he tracks his prey. He's dressed in clothes which are far too large for him, and happen to look suspiciously like Jamie's kilt and a mock-neck pullover. The lad has taken the time to re-belt the kilt and adjust the pullover so things aren't in the way or falling off altogether, but he still looks a wee bit ridiculous.

The creature he's stalking may also be suspiciously familiar looking - at least to a few people. It's a cinnamon-colored ferret, who is bounding through the forest with a complete lack of concern over the lad following him. It, or, well, he, is wearing a collar with a name tag that reads 'Trouble'. He actually seems quite pleased with himself, since he's getting to roam around and play unsupervised.

The lad, though, appears to be very serious about this hunting. So much so that he seems remarkably blase about the place he finds himself in. Of course, it could just be possible he hasn't really noticed it yet...]

[In true wibbly wobbly timey-wimey fashion, Jamie's experiment has started. Feel free to assume the ferret wanders off somewhere if you don't want to deal with it.]

[Well, he might notice this gentleman stoop to pick the ferret up gently, apparently talking to it before he notices Jamie...which he does, eventually.]

[Leela could read the boy’s age in his movements and in the barely perceptible sound of his footsteps. For one so young, he was an excellent hunter. She did not wish to disturb him until he had found his quarry. She remained perfectly still in the shadow of the trees, almost hidden from sight.]

[He does notice - although not without doing a double take, because he could swear the man? Woman? Whoever it is, they've got purple hair. They've also got his prey, and he's not pleased about that part of things.]

Hey! What do ye think you're doing?

[Well that's a pretty unmistakeable accent, but Mu doesn't react quiiiiiite yet.] Saying hello to a friend of mine, of course.

[Perhaps not as good as all that. He continues to stalk for a bit longer, but then the ferret suddenly veers off to one side. Moving to follow, his foot catches some roots, and he's suddenly flailing, startled.]

H-hey!

[Over into some plants he goes, with a yelp. Trouble, just as startled by all the noise, takes off like a shot and disappears from sight, just as Jamie pushes himself up on his hands to see if he can still spot the ferret.]

Och.

You were doing well. You must remember to keep an eye on what is around you as well as on your prey.

What, that wee beastie? [Even at his current age, he's quite good at giving that 'Are you daft' look, apparently, because that is exactly what he's doing now.]

Whatever for? It can't talk.

[weepiperlad]

[He looks up at the woman, blinking a bit in surprise, then nods. He's still a bit cranky looking, mostly because he's unhappy over what happened.]

Aye, if I had seen them, I'd not have tripped. Now I'll not be able to find that beastie again.

( she was finding herself in the forest on the Plane much more often lately, for some reason it was rather peaceful for her to walk around in there. she was wandering along, looking at some of the trees when a small, furry creature ran by, or rather, through her legs and off in the distance. raised brows, she whipped around to look at it running off. )

Was that...

( blinking a few times, she moved to follow it but instead found herself turning her head toward the sound of the ground rustling. someone else was there. abandoning the search for the ferret, Victoria pushed through some of the lower branches until her body collides with someone else. once she stabilizes herself from stumbling into the lad, she widens her eyes at recognizing who it is. )

Jamie—!?

[Being smaller than Victoria at the moment, the collision sends him stumbling backward, and he actually loses his balance, falling on his rump. Annoyed, his mouth pulls off to the side.]

Hey! Watch where you're going! [It's said with all the indignation a ten-year-old can muster - and Victoria's lucky he actually didn't have the dirk out. Mostly because it's a bit big for him at the moment, and he doesn't particularly want to hurt himself on it. But her next words give him pause, and he looks at her in confusion. He doesn't recognize her. Is she new to the village? She's dressed a wee bit oddly, though, and he's pretty sure he'd remember seeing that type of outfit before.]

Aye. I'm Jamie. Do I know ye?

[waterfield]

( she even winces just slightly as he falls to his rear, but is far too shocked to be as amused as she might have been should he be his proper age and she'd caused that to happen. maybe she was dreaming... that had to be it, yes. so, moving a hand to her arm she pinched it and again found herself wincing with a soft gasp this time. oh heavens no, awake and with a child form of Jamie? what the hey... )

How did you get so... So little?! ( hadn't he just been older than herself?! well, even more older?! )

I am not little!! [He folds his arms over his chest and scowls, mouth pulling off to one side. Some things never change. Well. Maybe those ears did, as they look like they're sticking out a wee bit more than they used to. Or maybe that's just the slightly different hair style.]

I'll have ye know that I'm taller now than I was last summer. I'll be as tall as Uncle Duncan. You'll see.

[He peers, though. Maybe that's where's she's from, although he'd not have expected it of Uncle Duncan. Jamie'd not thought he'd have an English friend.] Hey, are ye a friend of his? I don't think I've seen ye before.

[those clothes are certainly familiar, even if the child himself is not. he will be eventually, when he grows, but for now the TARDIS simply watches him curiously. is it really Jaime, or another version of him pulled through the Machine?

so there is a large blue box tracking a small boy in oversized clothes. and not being overly cautious about it. he's certain to find her eventually]

( briefly forgetting the conundrum, Victoria rolls her eyes and wavers her hand at him slightly. if even she is taller than he is, then yes, he most certainly is little. ) Of course you're little, look at you.

( she blinks, though. Duncan? she'd never met any Duncan and how could Jamie just forget her like that? small child or not; just what was going on here? some sort of distortion to change both his age and his memories? maybe she should look for the Doctor... )

Um, Duncan? I don't believe I know any Duncan's ...

[Oliver couldn't fail to recognise that boy--particularly not with the clothing and the ferret as rather glaring clues. he stops in his tracks, mouth hanging open, as he watches little Jamie going after his own pet. for a moment, he just stares. and then he manages a very eloquent:] ...oh wow.

[And find her he does, because a large blue box is a strange enough sight that it catches his attention. Letting the ferret go wander off where it will for the moment, he goes over to investigate this strange new thing instead, stopping in front of the doors and peering up at the lettering.]

Police box? What's a police box?

[He doesn't seem to recognize it, but there's something about it that still seems...familiar, although he has no real idea why. It's just a feeling. But it's enough to get him to cautiously reach a finger out to touch the door.]

[He doesn't look at all pleased about still being called little, but even he knows he's still small for his age. So he lets that go for now. Besides, he's still trying to place her. There's something about her...but what?]

Ye don't? [He brings a finger to his mouth, chewing on his finger thoughtfully.] You're not new to the village, are ye? I mean, you're dressed a bit funny for it, but you're English. You'd not know any better.

[weepiperlad]

Aye, of course ye do. [It's said with all the determination of a young boy who believes he's absolutely right. Trouble, however, has other ideas, and starts climbing up Mu's arm, making soft chirping noises as he does. He's happy to see Mu, apparently, and Jamie can't help but notice.]

That...what's he doing?

[weepiperlad]

[Eloquent or not, it's enough to distract Jamie, who stops, turning towards the sound in confusion.]

Hey?

[He frowns a little, not happy about having his hunting interrupted.]

What do ye want?

Returning the greeting in his own way, of course.

He is so important to you? There will be other animals.

[oliverplus]

[Oliver sputters at him in disbelief. hearing that voice, now he's really sure who this is] Well, ah...uh...do you know where you are?

[because you aren't supposed to show up on the Plane as a child and be chill about it! you've got this all wrong, Jamie]

[she didn't lock them and so the doors open easily under his touch, admitting him into her console room]

He is? [His eyes widen a bit before he peers at the ferret a little more closely. After a few seconds, a skeptical look appears on his face.]

Och, you're having me on. He's just climbing up your arm, that's all.
