[the Doctor appears in mid-air, turned on his side as he aims a sonic blaster

when his shoulder slams into the stars, he looks more surprised than pained; slowly, cautiously, he sits up, examining the sudden change in scenery]

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting this.

[he keeps a firm grip on his weapon as he stands, but it stays at his side; his clothes are simple and elegant, save for the ragged tears and stains of blood

his body language is carefully casual; his expression is, at most, curiously bemused]

I will say it's a nice break from all the chaos and clamour.

[it's odd, to feel shock that isn't feigned; softly] I...could very well ask why you're not. It's been a very long time, Jamie.

[again, he's staring; he certainly didn't expect to see Leela again; not so soon, not like this] Leela?

...No, I never seem to.

You don't have to fight me, 'cause I'm a good guy! [He seems very proud of this fact.] Uh, wait a sec. Are you fighting me? Like, are you 'friend' or 'foe'?

[He looks thoughtful before he replies.]

Doesn't matter. I just couldn't remember when I first heard of it. You know too much already.... even if we don't take the same path, something tells me that it will always end with Gallifrey being destroyed in any universe.

[And she, in turn, knows the familiarity in his voice.]

Oh, I can tell that.

[the Doctor kneels down to his level, setting the gun on the stars] Well, I'd like to be a friend, but that's your decision.

[a slight, grim nod] It's possible.

It may yet be possible to mitigate the damage, however, and I intend to try.

[a thoughtful frown as he shakes his head] Neither, no. I'll have to tread carefully, then.

[with a soft smile] Well. I don't have you to look after me.

[and this is why she isn't going to mention knowing another him back home. that reaction at least confirms to her that she's made the right decision] Then I'll spare you the details.

[they've reached the kiosk, and she gestures to it] Ah, I'd recommend the first. It's more about information. I think the second's somebody's idea of anger management.

Hey, it's not been so long as all that...

[Something seems to occur to him then, and he pulls a bit of a face.] Och, no. Don't tell me this version of ye has gone and forgotten everything too. Look, I've met ye here before, and some other versions of ye as well. And none of them are the version of ye that I'm traveling with back home now.

[He looks the other up and down.]

[That's experience talking now.]
