[He'd taken the holidays off to spend time with the people he cared about. Naturally. And things were finally going his way for once too. Good thing too because that meant he had plenty of free time to do as he pleased. Including rearing the puppies which his dog Hilde had given birth too sometime ago. He'd also promised a couple folks their pick of the litter, or just play time. That day was today.

People would hear the playful yips as puppies dug around and romped on the beach's sand, while Duo sat in one of those captain chairs watching them and petting his big fat lazy rottweiler. The pups were German Shepherd mixes. Behind his chair? At the hanger? At the bar? All had signs up that said "Free Puppies". Inquire at Beach.]

[Unlike Duo, Heero's time was all spent sorting out the mess their merger caused. Not that it was nearly as bad as it once had been, but it was still enough to keep him busy. It wasn't like he had much to do in his spare time.

Arriving on the Plane, the first thing he noticed those signs everywhere. "Free Puppies." Those puppies Hilde had must've been ready to be adopted. So he made his way down to the beach, finding both Duo and Hilde sitting while the puppies ran everywhere.]

They've gotten big already.

[They were big. Their paws? Huge. An indication of a large adult. He were all busy froliking in the sand, tackling their siblings and digging little burrows to hide in. Hilde got up and ran to Heero, now looking pretty slimmed down since the puppies were weened. Even her teets were significantly reduced. She stood up on her hind legs, putting her paws to Heero's chest and reaching up to lick his face, her tail wagging like crazy.]

They are. You wanna get first pick?

[As soon as Hilde jumped up onto him, he couldn't help but stroke her head and pet behind her ears like he always did. It had been awhile since he'd last done that to her.]

No one else has claimed their yet?

[Hilde he licked him again and them dropped down, wagging her tail and running over to her pups, going to check each of them.]

Nobody have. I want you to meet somebody, actually.

[Duo smiled and walked over to the beach, looking down at all the puppies before making his selection. It was the runt of the litter. A little boy. Wiggling.]

This is the underdog. The other ones kinda pick on him sometimes. I think you might like him.

[Watching Hilde check on her puppies for a moment, he made his way over to Duo and looked down at the small puppy wiggling about. He really was a lot small than his siblings.

He carefully pet the puppy before lifting him into his arms.]

[Duo watched Heero as the shy little puppy wiggled away from Heero as Heero reached from him. In his hands, he wiggled more, and eventually put his head into the crook of Heero's arm to hide his face.]

He's a sweet boy, really shy though. You're gonna want to bring him out of his shell.

[The poor puppy looked miserable in his arms. So he tried his best to soothe the poor thing by gently stroking through it's fur.]

I can do that.

[The puppy wagged his tail slowly, cringing in the arms at the pets. So shy. He just wanted to go home and play with Cody! Stranger danger!]

The dog trainer I talked to recently says that you shouldn't encourage the shyness. Like if you go talk to someone else and he's shy, just let him do what he does, but give treats and stuff when he approaches people.

[He reached into his cooler for a bunch of cut up hot dogs.]

Here.

[He takes the bag and pockets it for now. They could start on training once they got home.]

Anything else I should know?

I don't think so.

Sign up for a puppy class or something. That'll help him.

These dogs are smart but headstrong. You gotta make sure they don't think biting is an acceptable thing to do. Hilde had that problem for a while. No idea about the dad.

Got an idea for a name yet?

[He gave a nod of his head and continued to stroke the puppy's fur, tying to coax him to relax and stop squirming.

When asked for a name, he thought for a moment.]

Tusbasa.

[Duo smiled, understanding the meaning and he nodded. He watched as the puppy turned his head back up to look at Heero. See? He's coming around.]

Good name.

[He notices and decides to start a little early, reaching into his pocket to get a hot dog bite and fed it to the puppy.]

Yeah.

[The puppy sniffed the hotdog and put his entire mouth around Heero's fingers.]

[He withdrew his fingers and looked at Duo.]

They aren't nursing still, are they?

No, he's just mouthy. He still tries to suckle on Hilde but she doesn't let him.

Oh right. [He pulls out a small stuffing free plush toy.]

This is his pacifier, basically. I don't know if there's a harm in dogs having a security blanket.

[Taking the small toy, he put it near Tsubasa's mouth to play with. It was better than using his fingers.]

I can ask the trainer.

Well, you're supposed to do exactly what you just did. Redirect his biting.

So it's all common sense stuff.

Pretty much. You can get a smart dog to do anything with time and repetition.

[He turns to Hilde and brings his hand up like a gun.]

Bang!

[Though Hilde opens her mouth and pants, her ears flip back and she lays down, slowly, and rolls over, her tail thumping slowly on the floor.]

Good giiirl!

[As a treat he gave her a whole half of a hotdog.]

[Heero watched as Hilde played dead. It was a little unnerving to say the least.]

I'm not teaching my dog that.

[Duo understood why. He just smiled at Heero and looked at his puppy.] Teach him anything you want.

[Oh my goddess puppies. Don't mind Eithan, he's just going to be standing there, watching them and smiling. ♥]

Dude. Free? For real?

As long as you can be trusted. [He winks at Eithan and grins widely, reaching down to pet the mum. He hands Eithan a bag of cut up hotdogs.]

Here. Go make a friend.

[Eithan looks like a little kid at Christmas. He takes the bag with a huge grin on his face, gives Duo a firm nod and heads for the puppies!

He crouches down in the sand and opens the bag, fully expecting to get absolutely ambushed by the little guys...]
