01 - Anyone else gettin deja vu? Oh well, lets run with it

Toto, we're definitely not in Kansas anymore. [Spider-Man crouched low on the ground, looking up at the sky to see nothing but a sea of stars. This was a far cry from the store he'd chased Mysterio into. Pulling himself to his feet, he looked around to trying and figure out just what this place was.]

Maybe I hit my head a little too hard on the landing. [He reached back to rub a sore spot on the back of his head. He took another moment to look around before stopping, rubbing his chin with one hand and placing the other on his hip.] Another illusion? Maybe, but it's just too good for him.

[This wasn't like the typical smoke and mirrors. There was genuinely something off about this place. He could hear something clicking off in the distance. Ah ha! Maybe that was the source of this illusion. Now if only he could find it.] My spider-sense isn't going off either. That's not a good sign.

Hey Mysterio, gotta love what you did with the place! [He called out while deciding to take a stroll. It was best to keep his guard up, just in case this really was an illusion. ] Not what I would've done, but to each his own I guess. Can't decide which I like more, the roman colosseum in the back or the weird thing you've got going on with the sky.

[He heard the guy call out a bunch of nonsense long before he caught sight of him. He was with his dog then taking a walk around the hanger and near the other buildings when he heard it. They both moved around a corner and Duo laid eyes on what looked like a man in a spandex suit. He laughed.]

Hehe! Hey man. I don't know about your 'verse, but I still think it's a little early to be dressing up for Halloween.

[The dog panted, her ears back as she looked the boy over. Huh?]

[Oh, how very original of this guy. In fact he had worn his costume for Halloween. Why not, right?]

I guess your illusions come with a sense of humor now Mysterio. Now that's really impressive.

[Boy was he going to feel like an idiot in a few minutes.]

[He'd never heard it before.]

Uh.

[There's an awkward silence.]

You just got here, didn't you?

Just got here? I'd guess so, considering I have no idea where "here" is.

[He looks around and then raises his hand above his head like he's measuring something.]

You haven't seen a guy in a cape run by, have you? About ye big with a fish bowl on his head?

[The imagery is amusing there. It just clicks then. That this guy is from a superhero verse or something. He looks the kid over.] Spider-boy? Heh. cool.

Yeah. This place? It's called the astral plane. Kind of an in between to a bunch of different alternate universes.

So whatever you were just doing, it's on pause til you go back.

Spider-boy? [Now that was insulting!] It's Spider-Man. You know...the whole friendly neighborhood bit.

[Then the whole multi-verse thing sinks into his head. Excitement!]

You're joking, right? I mean there's theories about that but it's true? Honest to god proof right here?

[Then denial.]

No way. I'm not gonna fall for this. You gotta try harder.

Fine kid. Spider-Man. Whatever you say.

[He teases, but it is pretty cool nonetheless.]

Yeah. It's real. [What? Okay, if the wants to go that way, he puts a fist to his hip.] Hey. Whether or not you believe it is your own thing. But that doesn't stop it from being true.

If you don't want my help, that's fine too.

Hey, hey. No need to get all moody on me. [He puts his hands on his hips.] You can't exactly blame me for finding this hard to believe. I was just chasing some guy who's a self-professed master of illusion...who likes to talk in the third person.

So you've got any proof that this Oz and I'm Dorothy?

Heh. [He crosses his arms at that one.] I don't blame you. Took me a while to come to terms with it as well.

And then, while I can't help you with your nut ball peril here, I can tell you how to get back.

It's like how you walk. You don't think about it, you just do it. So you wanna go home? Do it. Same goes for coming here.

That simple? Where's the excitement in that? You'd think there'd at least be some sort of portal or something stashed around here. [Despite the mask, you can tell he's disappointed.]

Beats having to jump a bunch of hurdles to get home. Figuratively speaking.

I'm good at jumping hurdles, even figurative ones. [Now that he's got all this information down, it's time to finally sort through it.]

Okay, so this is some sort of meeting place between worlds and we can leave by simply thinking about it. Huh. [He's really good at talking to himself.]

How are we sucked here? Rip in space time? Maybe through a black hole or something?

[The question he didn't want to answer.]

More or less.

From what I understand, we got yanked here to be experimented on by some machine. So there's some intelligent agency behind it, but I couldn't tell ya what it is or what it wants.

[Just don't tell him to do anything.]

[The science nerd in him was excited by the prospect of experiments. It would be fun to learn about the workings of other beings and whatever neat things were here. However, a moment later, he realized that Duo said they were the experiment.]

Why is it every evil agency has some sort of experimentation going on? It's so cliched. [He shrugged.]

Since you seem to be one of the natives, why don't you show me around?

I actually couldn't tell ya, man. [If you watch enough TV, you probably knew every cliche there is. Duo clearly doesn't watch enough.]

Does it really happen that often? You're the superhero, you outta know.

[Right?]

Actually I'm about as native as you are. My world's gotta be a heck of a lot different than yours anyway.

C'mon.

More than you'd believe. [Clearly he's amused, both at incredible ratio of labs to villains and the fact he was just called a superhero.]

[You just had to go and mention another world.]

You've got to tell me! I mean seriously, how often do we get the chance to hear about other worlds?

[Nerd time! He'll follow you now.]

You look like a human. So either you're an Earthling or maybe from some humanoid planet? Or maybe this place makes everyone look like this.

Man, this is so cool!

[Oh boy. He whistles sarcastically.]

Heh. More now than I ever thought I would, actually.

[Following him? Okay. Fine. But Hilde goes over to Pete wagging his tail, sniffing at him.]

I am Human. And if you were wondering, she's a real dog too. I'm from Earth. Same as you I take it. Except in my world it's the year AC 202. We live on space colonies and all.

[He pets Hilde enthusiastically, still enamored with the plane. Oh, and he's listening very closely to everything you're saying.]

Neat! What's it like living in space? No moon colonies? Live on mars?

[He shakes his head]

Nah. Movies are never that accurate.

[Hilde licks his gloved hand and wags her tail.]

Um. Well, actually we've got a moon base. And everything's pretty much like living on Earth only everything is air conditioned constantly.

[Movies? What movies?]

No they're not. [He's heading for the hanger to drop his dog off.]

[You know. Terrible movies like Total Recall and stuff.]

That's...not what I expected really. I figured it'd be a bit more exciting than that.

[He's still following right along.]

Nope. Living in space is the new status quo. [He chuckles a little, opening the door for Hilde and stepping in.]

Yo! Heero? You around? [No? Alright. He stepped inside. Spidey could join him if he wanted to. Especially considered it was no big deal if anyone here saw the gundams. It wasn't like they could use them.]

[Following Duo into the hangar, he stopped in his tracks as soon as he saw the gundams. The eyes on his suit went wide. Yes. Somehow they can do that.]

What are those?

[He runs right up to them, eyes still wide.]

They're just like those robots from all those scifi shows! They actually exist!

You mind if I get a closer look?

Best not. [A hard look on his face.] My partner like people touching his suit and I'd prefer you didn't either.

All I'll say is that the bigger one with the black is mine. Deathscythe.

That one's Wing Zero. They're Gundams.

I promise I won't touch them. [He's only going to crawl up the wall beside them, which he does.]

What's that stand for? [He leans in to examine the metal a bit more closely]

[Better not. Or else your spider-sense might go on overload.]

Gundam? It's short for Gundanium. It's the metal this stuff is made of.
