trichosurus vulpecula

[Satoshi picks up an egg, more out of curiosity than a desire for an egg. It is an elaborate egg, worthy of the Hikari collection. This, of course, is a deception.]

[The egg wiggles in his hands. Satoshi blinks. The egg wiggles some more. It cracks a little, and then a little more, and then...

And then...

And then a possum sticks it furry little head out.

A possum sticks its head out of an egg, wait, what?]

What.

Sorry, but did a possum just come out of that egg?

[because possums are not meant to come out of eggs.]

[identity profile] brandyhabit.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that normal for your world?

[identity profile] brandyhabit.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. It's still rather odd.

[she comes closer, bending a bit to be at eye level with the possum, reaching out a hand to pet it, going into kitty voice mode.]

Who has a strange and illogical method of being born? You do, yes you do, you strange little thing.

[and she recognizes Satoshi from Argentine looking out at him during the deathmatch]

And you're with Argentine, his Creator he called you if I remember right.

[River's own egg has been transferred to somewhere safe and warm and possibly bed-like, so now she can make awwww faces at the possum. Apparently she is going to find anything that comes out of those eggs to be enchanting. She will get to Satoshi in a moment, but she has something very important to say to the possum, with all solemnity.]

He seemed to think quite highly of you.

[she gives him a look]

Yes, I'm sure that explains it entirely.

[identity profile] brandyhabit.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
And I apologize for any damage I caused as well. How is he?

[identity profile] bytwo.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[She very politely offers it a hand to sniff more up close. After all, she might as well get part of the introductions out of the way with the one who seems more receptive to outside information.]

River.

[identity profile] brandyhabit.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's rather idiotic and a very, very lucky fluke.

[Argentine looks curiously at Satoshi and his new friend. Speaking of, Argentine has a new friend as well, which is a very happy and clingy baby raccoon nesting in his hair and chewing on it between his paws. Argentine doesn't seem to notice.]

What is that?

[identity profile] bytwo.livejournal.com 2010-07-24 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[River's expression drops a little, apparently apropos of nothing. (Or something.)

After tilting her head at Satoshi for a moment, she very gently attempts to take the possum from him, at least for a moment while he processes. Poor possum.]

[pshhhh, he's a priceless work of art, Satoshi. Priorities? Please?]

I've known people who've done far worse, and I'm sure under far less confusing circumstances. How is the girl now?
