[Being brought back to life without regenerating is a bit disconcerting, for a Time Lord. Coupled with the hazy, drugged feeling he has, Narvin has elected to try and find a nice, comfortable desk in the library to sit at.]

[He chooses a quiet floor, setting his (untouched) cup of tea down on the table and sliding into the chair. There's a low ache in his head, and, though he doesn't yet realise it, the Twins have made a few... changes.]

Damn.

[Anyone who can sense magic may notice that Narvin (who once held about the same amount of magical ability as a brick), now has a minor bit of magical power running through his veins. He won't be summoning any demons soon, but it's enough to make his nicely logical life a bit more interesting.]

[Braxiatel announces himself by dropping three things on the table before Narvin: a staser, a ring, and a datapad. The first two are Narvin's own; the last is that top-of-the-line equipment upgrade Braxiatel promised earlier. Business as usual.]

[There is, of course, nothing to be said.]

You better drink that tea. You'll need it when the Madame President finds you.

I'm hardly going to drink it if I don't know what's in it.

[The reply is as irritable as ever, as if nothing was wrong. Nothing has changed, he reminds himself. He slips the ring, then the staser, into a pocket, barely giving the latter a glance as he did so. The datapad he picks up and examines curiously.]

I take it she's not in particularly good mood, then.

[mildly] I thought, during my report to her, that deafness has its advantages.

Oh, wonderful. How long has it been?

Three or so days. I suggested that the Madame President would be wiser to stay on the Plane while you were gone.

[It doesn't mean she did, but he tried. He glances over Narvin briefly, dispassionately.] Do you know what they've changed yet? Aside from the blood.

[He resists the urge to look at the veins on the inside of his wrist to see if they've changed colours as well.]

Unless the headache was an intentional change, I don't know.

{Laughs} Oh, how wonderfully ironic.

It seems a bit petty. [Braxiatel stops for a moment, considers sitting across from Narvin, decides not to. It would feel... presumptuous.] The Doctor lost a sense for our kind, but you won't be able to find out if that's it until you're around another. I'm not sure what has been changed in Oliver or Bernice. Perhaps nothing, or something so tiny that we'll never notice.

[Narvin gives Caster a flat look. He doesn't feel quite up to a glare, yet.]

What is?

There is magic within you, Narvin. You could become a magus yet.

You're mistaken. There's no such thing as magic in my universe.

If their alterations are anything like their experiments, it could be anything. The changes to my blood are going to be problematic enough.

It is you who are mistaken--you just cannot recognize it. If there were no magic in your universe, I would not be partnered with Braxiatel.

Is that what they're calling it these days. You mean to tell me that some unknowable, unquantifiable force resides in the biodata of Time Lords, who have managed to remain unaware of it for several thousand millenia?

[Have a worried/relieved Damon] Coordinator Narvin?

Of course. Would you like to test it, my dear?

Not a hard thing to find a good lie for, surely.

[He glances up at Damon, somewhat surprised.] Damon?

If it is anything like Braxiatel's last little 'lesson', I think I'll decline.

A lie is one thing. A lie that is believable in the face of black, glittering blood is somewhat more difficult.

...It's good to see you alive again. [yes, he saw the match. at least, he saw who won. :(] Are you alright? Relatively speaking.

This is my Noble Phantasm. It cannot be wielded by anyone but myself, but anyone with magical energy can hold it, at least for a few moments. If you have none, your fingers will pass right through it.

You could feign surprise. With our home as it is, I don't find it hard to believe that all sorts of unexpected things could spring upon even those as informed as you are. It's a shame you're not the beppling type. You could even come up with a lie that no one will believe so that instead they'll think you're trying to cover up for your ignorance.

[There is another suggestion, but he has a feeling that Narvin won't appreciate it.]

I'm fine, Damon. [He's really not, but shh, denial.] You're not yet expected to fight, are you?

[he doesn't believe you, Narvin, but he shakes his head] I haven't received a letter yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I did, considering.
