{In Robespierre's reality, it's been a few days, which has placed him (finally) in England. So with that small step out of many out of the way, he's finally going to confront the Plane. Or, rather, allow people to confront him if they wish about Oliver. His sword is still at his side, but looks at the eternal night sky coolly.}

It never truly becomes less magnificent and terrifying, does it? How she would love to see it. And how she would hate to see me, here.

{With that aside, he bows his head as he walks toward the library, which is basically his only hangout. He speaks more loudly than the previous sentences, reciting a Psalm from memory as he walks:}

You, O Lord, will protect us;
you will guard us from this generation forever.
On every side the wicked prowl,
as vileness is exalted among humankind...

[though he said he would stay in the forest waiting for Oliver, he finds himself walking out of it and remembers seeing the library. perhaps he can pick up a few books to while away his time while he waits and plots the downfall of the deathmatches.

the thing is...he almost ignores Robespierre--he doesn't look anything like the one the Doctor met all those centuries ago, so the Doctor almost walks right on by. until he hears the psalm, that is.]

You are correct. It is Psalm 12. "Help, LORD, for the godly are no more;the faithful have vanished from among men." It is a Psalm I thought most appropriate, considering the events which have come to play out here, as well.

{He looks toward the coliseum, then back to the Doctor}

Yeah, I was afraid of that. [because if he's outside the Coliseum...then it's already done.] You know, it's shame Psalm 26 can never fully pass your lips again. Or any others of that nature. You just might be struck down as a liar.

It is presumptuous of you to assume that I do not myself think my life is without blame. But you speak out of anger for Monsieur Day, which is understandable.

But how dare you assume it was his time to die, huh? What little rulebook or day planner in your head says, "Oh, Oliver Day is down for a one o'clock killing, followed by a nice cuppa after I've washed my hands of his blood."?!

I did not say that I assumed that it was his. I said that I knew that it was not yet mine.

But by default it was, you can't deny that! You could have taken the honourable route and saved a good man from dying. A truly, honestly good man who could and would never kill even if his life depended on it. Which it did. He didn't raise a single finger against you, did he?

{And even though (or maybe because) he's gone, Robespierre's expression goes from cold neutral to angry and indignant. He stares after the Doctor, and says bitterly,}

And it is one that I will walk for Lia's sake.

{Then off to the library he goes, emotional repression coming back quickly}
