[you can almost see him shutting away the fear - and all other emotions - as he speaks. After all, this isn't asking him to do anything he doesn't already try to do.] It's time and closeness. That's how it was described to me. As you make emotional connections, positive or negative, parts of different worlds come together. I don't know what they use to make it happen.

An emotional connection? You must be joking. [It's almost automatic the way she lapse into this particular brand of humor she uses, a wry smile to be seen, all as an attempt to cover up the sudden concern and worry that this brought about.] It must have been a mistake.

[Her wry humour reminds him that he isn't supposed to feel anything, that this shouldn't have happened. He slipped up.] I didn't think a merger could ever happen to me. But it is what it is. And it has to be undone.

It's like an equation. [Satoshi doesn't underestimate this little girl's ability to understand. And he thinks she might understand better than most why shutting off is safest.] Closeness and time make the merger. Distance and time will undo it.

[In a special way, Argentine saying that Satoshi would only get shaken up over a big mistake is comforting. But then it's not comforting to confirm that it's a horrible mistake.] Has anyone explained mergers to you?
