[Damon is on the Plane again, looking a little disheveled. That, combined with a fading bruise or two, might indicate to those in the know that he's just been harassed by certain members of the Chancellery Guard. He doesn't seem terribly bothered by it though. Actually, he appears to be working -- but he isn't. Instead, he's creating a few very tiny security cameras for his own purposes.]

I suppose this is what I get for working up the nerve to confront the Castellan. [sighs] At least I can have a few moments of peace here...perhaps I'll have a few more in the Citadel once I'm finished with these.

[his next words are rather bitter] Let's see how you enjoy being watched constantly, Commander Maxil.

[Braxiatel opts not to speak until he is right behind Damon, looking over his shoulder. Incidentally, he approached Damon quietly and stealthily. Does he do this naturally and accidentally, or is it a conceit he has picked up with the single purpose of freaking other people out? No one will ever know.]

Do be careful, Damon. You're in danger of expressing true emotion.

[asdflkj you're such a creeper, Brax. Damon is quite startled by his sudden appearance, and quite embarrassed by the observation] I'm sorry, Cardinal Braxiatel. It's difficult to keep it contained under the circumstances.

I don't mind it. Others may. [Holding his hand out] May I see?

[smiles slightly] Fortunately, they're not here at the moment. [he carefully hands him one of the finished cameras] If you have any suggestions, I'd be delighted to hear them.

I'm not a technician, Damon. I'm sure you know better than I ever could. [Still, he does know what he's doing as he examines the camera. With disinterest--] It never ceased to surprise me when I see a Gallifreyan with bruises.

[awkwardly] I'll be fine, Cardinal, it's nothing serious. Besides, it was my own fault.

Everything is your own fault until you become a Cardinal, a Castellan, or a Coordinator. Then it is invariably someone else's fault. [He hands the camera back.] I live with a rather energetic group; I have some things that should heal the bruises in record time, if you'd like me to get them.

If the Castellan had actually been available for once, this might have been avoidable... [shakes his head] But no, please don't waste it on me. I'm certain your friends need it more.

My friends, Damon, need it so desperately that I have taken steps to ensure I will never run out. Supplies aren't a problem.

[Damon ducks his head, embarrassed again. He is not used to people being concerned about him.] If you insist? Though I worry for your friends, if they need it so desperately.

[Braxiatel smiles.] Much like a mutual acquaintance of ours, my friends are as good at getting out of trouble as they are at getting into it. If you'll wait here a moment?

[amused] I hope they don't go looking for it the way he does, at least. [and he nods] Of course, take your time.

The way who does? [Braxiatel disappears, returning with a jar of gel which he promptly hands over to Damon.] It should heal any minor injuries in a matter of minutes. It's less useful for major injuries, but before treatment you'd want to take those up under Article 93 Oblique 11, Clause 1 as undue force, which should let you invoke Clause 2 the next time it happens, guaranteeing a civil, not martial trial. Civil trials are always so much less forgiving. I do hope the gel helps. I've patches with smart drugs for anything worse.

I assumed the Doctor was the mutual acquaintance you were referring to. It seems he goes looking for trouble. [he takes the gel gratefully] I'm not sure I want to start a trial, Cardinal Braxiatel. I still haven't figured out if the Castellan has approved any of this.

Well, I had heard that Time Lords were the type who liked to watch. Not that I'm judging. Whatever gets you through the night, or century, or however it works for you lot.

[Damon is just confused by your innuendo, Benny.] I'm not sure I understand your meaning. These are security cameras...I'm planting them in various places around the Security Compound so I'll know if the Chancellery Guard is about to barge into the computer room at any given moment.

Hopefully that isn't what the security cameras are for. Spying on Castellans can make one feel terribly ill for the sorts of things they talk about.

[oh Damon~] That's all right. I didn't expect you to anyway.

Do the Chancellery Guard do that often? Barging in and all that nonsense, that is.

No, I'm not spying on the Castellan. [there is an implied "yet" in that statement] Just Commander Maxil and the Chancellery Guard. It would be nice to get a bit of work done without surprise interruptions.

[sighs] More often than I'd like, yes. At least, ever since I helped the Doctor.

[surprise isn't often an expression he'll allow, but it'll do no harm here; it's appropriate

so his eyes widen when he sees Damon, smile curving into a concerned frown as he listens]

I could help with that.

[Barbara takes in the disarray, the injuries, the quiet resentment, and immediately decides she's on this guy's side, at least for now

she's a good judge of people, you see, and now Damon blatantly reads as a kicked puppy

so she approaches with a faint smile]

Watching is my speciality.

[Damon is reminding Braxiatel of the many reasons he absolutely hated his home planet.] I can see the cameras taking away the surprise part of it. Not the interruptions, however.

[Damon is rather surprised himself, but seeing the Doctor is obviously a pleasant sort of surprise.] Doctor! They told me you were here, but they didn't mention this particular incarnation of yours... [and then, he notices that something is wrong with this picture] Wait, why are you dressed in black?

[Damon eyes the wheelchair curiously, but he is polite enough not to ask her about it. Instead;] Is it really? Perhaps you could help me, then. These cameras are all I've been able to come up with for now -- I'm hoping they won't be discovered.
