♥ is this a nightmare to be or am i building a dream?

[A young woman with stark white skin and purple hair appears suddenly on the Astral Plane, mid-walk and mid-talk. She's dressed rather simply in a low-cut peasant blouse and a layered black skirt, though her haircut is more modern than Victorian. Like anime. Or 1990s.]

I really think this is going to work, C—

[Her accent is mild but still recognizably London, if London was suddenly placed in the middle of space.]

—Connor?

[All of her collected-ness trembles in fear for a moment as she's completely cut off from everyone she ever knew. A quick mental scan of the area— an area as big as Whitechapel— reveals that none of her freaky family is in proximity.

Also, there is no floor. Or ceiling.]

Jack? Jack! Damn it, where—...!? [She reaches out to touch a lamp pole someone left behind, making sure it's real. She's never had an "episode" before but she thinks that quite possibly she may have hit her head. She leans against the pole and runs a hand through her hair, looking around.]

Something about this seems familiar, but I can't really remember it, and I know I would. Especially since I've never been anywhere that they couldn't hear me. Maybe I fell, or... no, I couldn't have been attacked, that's not right, I would have felt...

... What's happened to me?

[On seeing the young woman's alarm, Braxiatel chooses his most calming and reassuring voice, the one he uses when dealing with people at their most stressed (family having a nervous breakdown over committing genocide, students having panic attacks over final examinations).]

You haven't been attacked. You're safe here, presently, anyway. [He decides not to dwell on the potential dangers of the Plane until later.] You can go home at any time you like, as easily as thinking.

[Shun can't help but want to try helping] It's okay, you're just on the Astral Plane.

[Upon running across the lassie, he can't help but notice she seems upset - and quite possibly somewhat confused as well. The latter's not a wholly unfamiliar sensation for Jamie.]

Aye, it's a bit of a shock at first. There's a building over there with these wee pieces of paper with information.

[Or, he could fish around in his sporran for his copy, which he does. It looks like it's been crumpled into a ball at some point and awkwardly smoothed out.]

Like this.

[(Yes, because those things are obviously on the same stress scale, Brax...) Sirkka straightens and detaches from the pole, surprised not by his presence but by the fact that he seems to be psychically aware.]

Presently?

[She feels him holding back, but what he says after gets her.]

As easily as thinking? I'm afraid I don't understand.

[She senses immediately that he is telling the truth. But that doesn't make sense.]

The Astral Plane? Could you explain, maybe?

[Sirkka just has to stare at Jamie for a moment. She hasn't seen someone that Scottish in... forever. There was that time that the neighbor got drunk, but that was a very long time ago, and-- oh, yes, stop being distracted.]

Ah, thanks much.

[She takes the bit of paper and glances over it for a long moment, her confusion and surprise slowly turning to... more confusion and surprise! Hoorah.]

This is... the truth, isn't it? Oh, my.

It's a place where people from a lot of different worlds can meet. You can go home if you want though. Just think about it and you'll go back.

Just like that, hmm? [Like reaching out and—

—aah!

Are you all right? [He's never seen anyone hurt going to and from the Plane, but he's never seen someone startled by it either.]

I'm... I'm fine.

[She smiles after a minute.]

Sorry I gave you a scare. I just wasn't expecting to... you know.

Now what's this about different worlds? You don't mean from Mars... do you.

[(They cry for about the same amount of time, okay?) Braxiatel waves a hand.] Any place has dangers, but they aren't always particularly active.

[He still hasn't noticed her psychic abilities; his casual curiosity is clear on the surface of his mind. Calm dispassion reigns over him.] I had Broderick write up something to make it easier, but I don't actually have the brochure on me. Forgive me. In brief, returning home is like walking. One tries to go home and one simply does. Returning is precisely the same thing. [Intuitive, natural, and easy.]

[Another disturbed newcomer...the Plane loves a show, it seems.

Haseo walks over to chat with her.] You've landed in the Plane, is what happened to you.

Ah, right... [She's at least able to look down, though there's still a sense of vertigo. She shakes it off.

And thinks of home-- POP.

-- pops back. Holy shit. Give her a second to compose herself, and then she's back to questions.]

Just like that, yeah? But what kind of place works like that?

[Sirkka is shocked by the silver hair and eyes, and it takes her a second to get her bearings.] ... This happens a lot, doesn't it? [She smiles faintly.] Unfortunately this is the first time I've found myself somewhere I wasn't before. Usually the world has floors and ceilings and things, but this is like a dream.

[There's a moment in the beginning where he does raise his eyebrows at the scrutiny, but overall he doesn't seem to mind being stared at too much. Hooking his thumbs behind the chain that holds the sporran in place, he lifts his chin to watch as she looks over the brochure, then nods.]

If the others are to be believed? Aye, it is.

[Jamie's got good reason to believe some of those others, too.]

And some of it I can tell ye is true, just from being here.

The Deltean Archives, Puterspace, the Golden Mind of the Sixteenth Sphere, and Rukwen, off the top of my head. [Deliberately, he doesn't mention the one place on his home planet that can be accessed this way. After all, one doesn't want people making pop culture references at one immediately.] Would you like to sit? There are usually chairs left lying around. People are very careless here, very free with what they leave behind. I could make tea.

[It is his reflexive response to anyone else's distress. He is terrible at expressing sympathy, so he may as well supply tea to people.]

[a long pause]

... Tea. Tea sounds great, actually. I'm sorry, I haven't really introduced myself, I've been too busy pounding you with questions. I'm Sirkka.

I don't really know what to think. I'm not usually one to doubt my own sanity, it's just... [There's something nagging at her beneath all of the "OMFG WHERE THE FUCK AM I" instincts. When she's done scanning over the brochure, she nervously tucks a bit of hair behind her ear, and then looks over at Jamie again.]

Sorry, what was your name?

[Is not terribly fazed by this. Red eyes, silver hair, weirdo tattoos - those don't seem to be terribly 'normal', from what she's seen. ... Meh. Not her problem.] Yeah, it happens a lot. The buildings on the Astral Plane do usually have floors and so on, but the rest of it is just stars.

Did anyone already give you the rundown? If not: you're not actually stuck here, you can just think your way out and back in again. Time doesn't pass on your world while you're here. ...no, I don't know how that works, it just does.

[LMAO ♥] I'm surprised I'm not falling through the floor or... something. [She pokes at a galaxy with her sandal, then looks back at Haseo.] They didn't mention the time part. Hard to believe I'm not imagining this... but my dreams certainly don't get this creative.

[She offers her hand.]

I'm Sirkka.

The Plane's just weird like that.

[...Oh hey, one of those handshake things. Handshake time, then.]

I'm Haseo.

You're on the Plane. [This is obviously Very Helpful Information, duh.]

It's nice to meet you.

[Her smile is gentle, honest.]

How long have you been here? Do you know?

[Hello kid with crazy hair.]

The... Plane? I've never heard of it.

[Hey, his hair isn't that crazy. ... usually.]

The Astral Plane. [Nods.] It's kinda like... where different worlds all meet up. Not everybody can come here.
