[someone new appears on the Plane; she's sitting in a manual wheelchair, wearing a sleek black headset, and balanced on her lap are two thin silver rods

for a moment, she looks stunned, but then her expression closes, and when she speaks, her voice is cool and calm]

Azrael? Azrael, do you read me? ...No, I thought not. [she pulls the receiver down so that it hangs round her neck, and begins to move, cautious and alert; her chair rolls silently across the stars, and her gaze moves with sharp precision

she's memorising every inch of it]

[Hello, Babs, while you're memorizing, you might as well notice the teenager in the pink sundress and totally matching black boots. She has her head tilted in your direction, not-quite but almost looking at you.]

she slows to a stop, folding her hands on her lap]

Who does?

[She glances away at the attention, (maybe) a little startled that the woman was actually listening. To cover, she refocuses her attention on smoothing out her skirt.]

Lots of people.

[Shion has been studying her with some curiosity since he has never seen a wheelchair before. But he isn't totally rude and speaks up after a moment.] Have you not been here before?

[with a touch of wry irony to her voice] It doesn't seem like the best place to live.

[she meets his eyes as she comes to a stop] No. Not unless you count that moment in the shop. [now her hands rest right next to her Escrima sticks]

[A little lilted, not disagreeing or agreeing.] There's space.

[a slight nod, a careful glance down] I never thought it would be below me.

They're not right, [She sounds almost reassuring, as if this is somehow helpful,] in the design.

[slight smile] I thought they looked off.

Yes.

[Beat. And then, with the importance of remembered manners.]

Welcome.

[and the smile widens]

Thank you. [a pause, as she considers] I'm Barbara.

Hi.

[She gets a little bit of a smile, in that yay! person! kind of way.

...Her name is not so much forthcoming, no.]

[faintly amused] Do you have one?

Yes.

[:D! AND SHE IS VERY PROUD OF THAT.]
