It's...all my fault.

[She's in somewhere near the middle of the plane sitting with her legs drawn up against her chest and looking as if she's was going to cry.]

Everything that's happening with Tool Toul To. If I only hadn't- Kanon-kun was right. There's no way a tuner can tune at a 2/4 ratio. Poor Makigai-sensei... Hako-chan.

[Sniffling and fighting back tears.]

If only I was better suited for this.

[Sebastian, who was ambling across the Plane holding a glass of wine, stops. He kneels down beside Kururu, then holds out his teddy bear to her]

Aloysius hates to see any person cry. It's one of his more redeeming qualities.

[She senses him there but doesn't really move any. She gives her knees a little squeeze.]

[he smiles, perhaps because he likes to see people happy, perhaps simply because he likes it when his teddy bear is acknowledged]

It's his name. It's been his name as long as I can recall. I am told he had a different name when he was an American bear, but as an accent is completely undetectable, I don't know that I believe he was ever American at all.

[Kururu gives him a very small smile, but the smile only reaches her mouth than her eyes.]

That's a funny name for an American bear. You must be very special to be able to understand him.

Oh, not particularly. Only I've known him as long as I can remember. He's named for Saint Aloysius, who left his family to become a monk, so he is the patron saint of very silly decisions to do with monasticism. I'm named for Saint Sebastian. I suspect this means I shall be surrounded by artists depicting my suffering for all of my life. I don't think I know your name.

There are a lot of people with unusual names here, aren't they? Are you from the East, too? This is the first I've ever met so many people not from Europe or the Americas. It's completely lovely to meet you, Sumeragi.

I haven't really been able to meet anyone outside of Japan myself. I haven't really even left the main island before.

You should! Though I am certain Japan is lovely and I should like to go there myself, it's very pretty elsewhere, too. Everyone ought to go to Venice at least once in their life. It's such a beautiful city.

[he settles down to sit cross-legged beside her, putting Aloysius between them]

I've seen pictures of other places, they do look really nice and it would be nice to go. ...some day.

[Kururu places a hand on Aloysius's head casually petting the bear.]

Oh no, it's not like that... It's- just that I haven't had time to travel. I've been... preoccupied with things.

[gazes at her with tentative sympathy, for a moment, and then, quietly] It's very rarely one person's fault, and it's much easier to know the right decision after the fact. Sometimes, we need to take risks, and sometimes...they were the wrong ones to take.

Well... it's not like they make me cry, but it's like if I was better at it all then there would be no need for all the set backs and tough times.

A, and I could never think of giving up this job to someone else because they all agree that I'm the best suited for it.

B, but.... it wasn't as much as my decisions as it was my actions. If only I was as capable and as talented as everyone thought-- or maybe even worse than I am, people would be happier.

[She gives Sebastian a bit of a confused face and tilts her head to one side]

It's a calling. Everyone has his own gifts meant for a particular life, and that life is his calling. You don't have to answer the call, but you're bound to become very unhappy if you don't. I don't ever want to be called to anything.

So why don't you want to be called by anything? Wouldn't that be nice to know instead of not knowing what it is you should do?

That's the problem, isn't it? That I should do something. I don't want to have to do anything. I just want to be happy, and vocations aren't about personal happiness.
