05.

[There is a box on the Plane.

At first glance, it looks entirely unremarkable. It is about six feet long, made of dull, tarnished bronze, and it would be entirely reminiscent of a coffin, if not for the odd humming that it emits. The edges are worn smooth with Time, and it is obviously very, very old.

It also happens to be floating three feet off the ground of its own accord.

Next to the box is Omega, once again in the Doctor’s cricketing uniform (sans the celery), and looking ridiculously pleased. Take a picture, folks, because the elusive happy!Omega is rarely seen in the wild.

Gallifreyans might recognise the box for what it really is. Anyone else, though, if free to wonder why the hell the weirdo in cricketing gear brought a floating coffin to the Plane.]

[the Master literally took a photograph]

[With a polaroid]

This is one for the family scrapbook!

When I see extremely powerful artefacts of, oh, shall I say, cultural significance, I can't help but stop to look.

Time Wars are worse than edit wars. At least edit wars leave page histories. Time Wars don't even have the grace of most palimpsests. You're lucky to find traces of what happened before.

Only if they're good at it. Really, Omega, you're touching like you're the Doctor and it's your TARDIS.

Is this the bit where I say, "You're not so different, you and him"? Though really it should be he, shouldn't it? Copular verbs and all that. I've been speaking in 21st century English too often lately.

[slipping into his own mother language, though of course his is a bit more modern] Gallifreyan is appalling on unlearned tongues. It makes my ears hurt when humans try it.

[I see your superiority complex and I raise you the Master's]

It's like hearing someone try temporal physics using basic algebra. The only good thing about that experiment was mocking the Doctors and that TARDIS for not having the language.

Not consistently. Depending on the Doctor.

My what? Gallifreyan? As good as ever, as you can hear.

[since one such Time Lord is rather indisposed at the moment, have a Host instead!]

Ohhhh? A levitating box trick, huh? [and he's going to start looking around it for any sort of wires that must have come along with it]

[identity profile] maturelildevil.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that right? [gives it a nudge]

[identity profile] maturelildevil.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[yeah, he's totally weirded out by that now] What the...

What is this thing?

[identity profile] maturelildevil.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't call that "stellar"...
