[she sits cross-legged on the floor of the Plane; it would seem a vulnerable position to one who didn't know how fast, how agile she is

she's dressed in a simple black tank top, baring both the muscles and scars of her arms, and tattered old pants, streaked here and there with stains that never quite came out

in her hands, she tosses a stake back and forth, eyes following it as she speaks]

Anyone else here have some kind of destiny? Special powers for the fight against evil? That sort of thing?

Is it still destiny if you fight against your destiny?

[Juni's face is carefully blank, she stands a few steps away] apparently you're supposed to make your own destiny.

[gazes up at him thoughtfully] It's still affecting you, so I'd say so.

Does it work that way?

You're right. You can't escape destiny. If you run, it'll just catch up to you... but if you face it, your chances are better.

It sucks when the main character leaves all the agonizing introspection to you.

[Satoshi looks at Kate very carefully]

I assume you do.

Why do you ask?

Of course it doesn't [Pause] The universe will never let people be; it's a fact of life.

Why are you asking?

[Hullo Kate, have a Nine! Again. This time complete with leather jacket, and a nice red jumper that is not torn to shreds] Who needs special powers for fighting evil?

It's always better not to turn your back on something if you can help it.

[faint smirk] You're the sidekick, then?

[slight shrug] I'm pretty sure the universe kept me alive when I should have died, so I can't really complain.

I do. Of course, it's a bit vague - keep killing evil things until you die, and that was the plan already.

[with a faint smile] You're looking better. [which becomes a smirk] I definitely don't, but they come in handy.

[wry smile] Wondered if anyone could sympathise, I guess.

This place seems like it has all sorts. Figured I couldn't be the only one.

You'd already chosen that life before it chose you?

[he pauses, and then, politely]

May I sit with you?

Almost more than I'd like. But it's important that we do.

In a way. [her eyes widen slightly, but] Sure.

[slight nod] Someone has to, right?

[he sits across from her, legs tucked under him, hands on his lap]

What way do you mean? [another pause, then, by way of explanation] I'm gathering information about the worlds and people here to look for any patterns.

Ah. Sounds like a good idea. [she's quietly contemplative for a moment, and then] There are demons in my world. I didn't know it for most of my life, and the way I found out... [a wry smirk, and she shakes her head] Most people still don't know, so I figured another person fighting couldn't hurt. Went around hunting them for a few years. Then, suddenly, I'm Superwoman. It turns out that I'm a Slayer - there's only supposed to be one at a time, but something changed that. Still trying to figure out what.

...I suppose; at least we're both still alive- that's something [Sigh] I'm probably just bitter.

Oh, I'm the evil they fight.

[And she isn't stupid. Drusilla is ready to disappear from the Plane if Kate does anything she doesn't like.]

[she doesn't recognise the voice; she's ready to simply be wary, derisive when she looks up - and then she's on her feet, stake in hand

but she doesn't move, because she knows Drusilla isn't stupid] Yeah. You definitely are.
