[the Doctor is in his arm chair, the aged but elegant piece he took from his TARDIS so long ago; his head lay back against the cushion, his eyes lightly closed as he rubs his temples

he looks quite relaxed, quite unaware, but of course he never is

on his lap is a tattered notebook, opened to a page stained with all manner of grisly liquids]

I really do wish my worlds would refrain from being invaded until I'm around to prevent it.

[raises an eyebrow - he does not stalk you at all, Five, really] Your worlds? That's different.

[his eyes are open immediately, and he's smiling wryly] Well. Worlds I've helped - that I try to keep helping when I can. Not such a difference, really. [pointedly] I'm just a bit more organised than the rest of me.

[chuckles, shaking his head] Now that's an alternate universe. A me who's organised.

Anybody I'd be familiar with?

[Hey! Brigitta hasn't spammed you in some time! SPAAAAAM] Things never go right.

[flatly] Quite. [the smile lingers, though] You're capable , you know.

[shrugs] Maybe, but where's the fun in being organised? You'd always know where you're going to end up, and that's just boring.

[hi there, Doctor, have a typical Time Lord who doesn't like the look of that notebook...] Claiming ownership of planets now, are we?

[Hi! Dorothy's gonna stand over you, peering at your notebook, because she's slightly tactless and exceedingly curious.]

Worlds? As in plural?

Careful, Doctor. Your Knight In Bloody Armour personality will start showing soon.

[glances up at him] Have you ever been to Aneth?

Some of it, yes. [his hand falls lightly to the notebook, gentle folding it shut; the cover isn't quite so messy] Better?

[Emil looks so pale he might pass out.]

Oh... Martel...

I can still be surprised, on occasion. [gestures vaguely at their surroundings] This place helps with that. Besides, it's...fulfilling, to know you've made a difference that lasts.

[he's gazing with slightly narrowed eyes, a firm set to his mouth] In a manner of speaking. They're my responsibility.

[faint smile] Quite the vast plural, too, relatively speaking. [tips the notebook so she can see it better, though it's written in an alien language, obscured by tears and gore]

[smiles in greeting; he missed you, shh] I do hope so. One has already seen the evidence, I thought I'd reveal it before he decided to.

[frowns, leaning forward to place gloved hands on his shoulders, to steady him

it's okay, the gloves are clean]

[shakes his head, letting his hand fall] Not on their own, no.

You do like undertaking such tasks, don't you? [glances at the Doctor's choice in clothing, but says nothing. he doesn't remember him wearing such an outfit at that botched execution.]

[He snaps out of it and looks up into the Doctor's eyes, a bit startled, since personal contact isn't something he's okay with unless they're a friend.]

S... sorry.

[his shrug is cavalier, his words pointed] Someone has to.

[draws his hands back, speaking softly] It's quite all right. Really, I ought to have expected someone to have an adverse reaction. [wry, weary smile] Sometimes I forget not everyone deals so often with such things.

And when did you adopt such an attitude? From what I've understood, you preferred to save once and never return.
