The little confections appear to be lemon with lemon frosting and little lemon fruitslice gummy candies on top. Also they've got little edible ball-bearings. Hey, they match her shoes!!]

I wouldn't know the feeling. Can't cook to save my life, neither can my mum. Don't even try anymore, but I'm real good at making reservations and calling in for take away. And I once had to be a dinner lady but that's still not counting for cooking or baking. That's just more serving.

[a little grumbly] Dinner lady none of the time if I got a say, just had to cause, well it's complicated. We had to go undercover, course the Doctor got to be a teacher and I was stuck as the dinner lady.

[grins then, a bit more proud] These days I got this job for this place called Torchwood. We defend the Earth against whatever sorts are gonna come and attack. Mostly aliens and Cybermen and that sorta thing.

Y'know, I'd never met any aliens until I came here. Talking animals and magic people and living trees and a whole city full of real live paperdolls and porcelain, not to mention Santa Claus, but aliens? Never. And now I'm surrounded by 'em! It's a wonder how things change, isn't it?

We got robot Santas before. They were sent by these aliens as like mercenaries. The Doctor called them some sorta fish, but I can't remember what. Pilot I think, cause they come along and make a path and check things out for the bigger ones.

[looks at Dorothy a mix of wide eyed and a little incredulous]

Talking animals? We got cat people? Like that? And all trees are living, aren't they? If they weren't they wouldn't grow. But paperdolls? [and she's just trying to process this all, and then she just straightens a little and offers a hand]

I'm Rose, Rose Tyler. Think we met before, but not sure if we ever got a real hello. I was sorta busy getting used to ending up in a different world or whatever this place is.

Oh no, I mean the real Santa. [As if there IS such a thing. But she's so straight-faced...] I mean like animals that talk. One of my best friends is a Lion! And then there's Billina the chicken, she saved everybody's life once. But even the animals that don't talk, I can sorta understand. Same with trees and plants. And sometimes the planet.

[Dorothy is starting to get used to this. Instead of uselessly insisting, she just takes her wallet out of her back pocket, pulls out her driver's license, and hands it to Rose. It's a Kansas licence, and it states very clearly, Dorothy Gale, BRN hair HZL eyes, 5'10". And she's an organ donor!]

Only thing on there that isn't right is the date, but I have to fudge that. Nobody'd believe me if I told 'em my real age! They'd put me in the loony bin.
