25 Old pastimes

[Jack is currently sitting on the Plane, legs crossed and with his great coat folded in a pile besides him. In front of him is a coffee maker. Or rather, something that looks vaguely like it was a coffee maker at one point. He's got several parts strewn about and seems to be tinkering wiht a couple of them.

As much as he normally loves doing this sort of thing, however, he doesn't seem too happy. He's muttering to himself as he works, and if you come close enough you could probably pick up a bit of what he's saying. It seems to involve impostors and lack of proper coffee aboard the TARDIS]

[The Doctor has not talked to Jack in a while! But craziness has been going on and the Doctor that Jack travels with has gone crazy. So the Doctor should totally check on him purely out of concern and not out of guilt or missing him or something silly like that.]

He still isn't back to normal?

[Jack doesn't have to look up to know who it is] Last time we talked he threw me over his shoulder and ran off.

[hey Jack, have a bothered looking Handy. Jack is just the person Handy was looking for, too. He comes over to Jack, looking over his shoulder]

Taking it apart usually means coffee gets made slower. Or was that the point?

Well, unless it was an Exatrel greeting, then I'll assume that's a no.

[Handy is also the person Jack wanted to see! This is probably the first good thing that's happened to him today] It's missing a few parts, like every other coffee maker on the ship. This one was the most salvagable.

Does he think something's a bit off with you, too?

I think there's a coffee maker in the kitchen around here. Come on.

[starts walking, assuming Jack is following]

And yeah. He thinks everything is fake. You, me, Lucy Saxon, the TARDIS. Even His sonic screwdriver.

He hesitates before responding. He should be mad at this Doctor. Still is, really. But as of now he's no longer the most frustrating of the bunch. Also, he may or may not have missed him] I don't want to risk setting foot on the ship until he's back to normal, or we've at least figured out what's wrong with him.

My guess is this place has something to do with it.

[Jack is right behind him; he doubts anyone is going to bother messing with a coffee machine that's been taken apart]

We shouldn't let him just run around here while he's like that. At this rate, he'll end up doing something stupid and hurting himself.

That's what I'm thinking, too. I'm actually trying to get Him to stay here for the time being, as we speak. Just needed to take a time out for a few moments. I'm hoping that means with the two of us here, time should at least slow down in our reality. I guess I'll find out when I get back.

Any idea what we should do, until he stops acting like a complet nutjob? We obviously can't go back to the shipn if he thinks she's a fake too.

I'm hoping He'll stay away from her completely. The last thing we need is her confused about what's happened to Him, seeing as she's not exactly part of this entire Plane experience.

[He slips his hands in his pockets, looking pensive for a moment] Since when is Lucy Saxon one of his 'loved ones'?

[Hei isn't exactly in the talking mood, but...] ...Jack?

[scratches the back of his neck, a little awkwardly] Oh, I don't know. He just mentioned her. Probably because she's attached to the Master I'm sure. Closeness by proxy.

[and look they are in the kitchen! Handy is now going to get to making coffee]

You know, I actually can make a half decent cup of coffee, without even taking apart the pot. Would you like a cup?

[The Doctor pauses before settling down near Jack.]

Most likely. I've spent the past handful of weeks thinking I was one of the Founders of Gallifrey. It wouldn't surprise me if they decided to do something to him, too.

[He decides not to push the issue, at least for now. Instead he takes a seat at the counter]

Sure. I could use the caffeine.

Right. Two cups of coffee. I could use the caffeine I think, too.

There's scones around here somewhere, too.

[and while coffee is brewing he is getting scones]

I had a very large tree branch swung my way. That was interesting. How well did you fair? He said you tried to restrain Him?

Yep. Omega, specifically. Have you heard of him? He enabled time travel for my people, so he was a bit of hero.

[Jack is always happy to talk to his emobuddy] Haven't seen you in a while.

[Jack is happy to just settle back in his chair; Ianto has spoiled him when it comes to snack time]
He looked like he was going to make a run for it.

I ended up being elbowed in the stomach and thrown over his shoulder.

[He's turned back to his tinkering now] I've heard some things about him. It's been a few years, though.

[sets down the scones and makes to pour their coffee]

Are you all right?

[gives Jack one mug and takes the other]

Mm, well, it was different from this in that it was basically harmless. Well, it wouldn't have been if it went on too long. But they don't tend to go on longer than a few weeks, as far as I know.

It was more of an annoyance than anything. I didn't expect him to do that.

[He takes the offered mug, sipping at it for a few moments. When he sets it down again, half of the liquid is already gone]
