[there is a mopey, mopey TARDIS on the Plane. why, might you ask? ~~and no, it isn't Diva's fault this time.~~ well it's simple! she got in a fight with Charlotte and the Doctor didn't defend her properly (in her opinion -- ie: kick Charley out), and so she is now hanging out on Kisha!Ten's beach, writing random Gallifreyan symbols in the sand, burying her feet beneath the grains and overall looking like a pouty little child.

[beaches are stupid, but they are worth it for the TARDIS. And awwww, she is sooooo cute. So he'll just sit down beside her and look at the symbols she is drawing in the sand and draw things in the sand as well]

[the symbols are familiar in their own way, and remind her of times long past. Not as far as the TARDIS must reach, of course. But something so far back it is out of reach now, all the same. Though she does not know entirely what they mean, merely that they hold weight and value, Reinette traces symbols in the same language unto the sand]

[beaches ARE stupid. and so emo. but awww, hi Handy! the TARDIS will give you a brief look, then smile and watch what you're writing because she's curious]

[is content to simply be in Reinette's presence, though when she begins writing, the TARDIS stops, admittedly somewhat surprised, though highly pleased to see it]

[he was only doing swirls and things in the sand, and then he notices her watching him, so he starts making a police box to the best of his ability, which is probably a bit crude looking, seeing he's working with sand and hands]

[as horrible as it is, it makes her smile, and the TARDIS reaches over, placing her hand over his and helping guide him so his drawing isn't as crooked as one of Gene's lockups]

[the narration made me sporfle! But her guidance does mark an improvement, and holding hands is nice too. He grins and admires their handiwork. Even though they are done drawing, he's still holding her hand.]

We should make something more substantial, I think.

[the narration would like to take this moment to note that it is pleased it made you sporfle!]

Should we? What then do you suggest we make?

[the narration should be pleased!]

Castles seem to be the popular thing. I think we need buckets and those sort of things for that, though.

[it very much is~]

A castle of sand? I have data on those. I do not understand their significance, but if you want, I can retrieve the appropriate tools.

[then I am pleased!]

Would you? I'd like that, you and me, we can have a go at it and see what we can manage to make between the two of us.

Very well. I will return shortly. [and she's gone! and comes back after a few minutes, burdened with a couple buckets, some small shovels and other assorted sand castle making tools, which she dumps on the sand beside Handy] Are these appropriate?

I think so, yeah!

[grabs up half the stuff, and pushes himself to his feet]

We should get a bit closer to the shoreline. Come on.

[offers her a hand before he starts moving forward again]

[tilts her head, considering him, then takes his hand and follows]

What is the point in creating a castle of sand?

I don't know, what's the point in creating most things? To say you did, maybe?

[and plops down in the sand and starts digging]

We should start with a moat, I think.

I suppose.

[kneels beside him, frowning]

That is illogical. If you begin with a boundary, you must build within it. Does it not make more sense to design the building and then surround it once you have established its proper boundaries?

I'm not quite sure. I wouldn't want to put boundaries around it before we even started, I suppose. I thought we needed to start with them, but I'd rather not I don't think. What does your data say as far as that sort of thing is concerned?

[Reinette continues, though again the meaning in the somewhat escapes her. Normally her lack of knowledge might be irritating. Now she is content to simply remember how they made her feel]

My data is inconclusive in regards to the proper order of assembly. [eyes a shovel, then begins digging into the sand, piling it up] I would assume one could construct a castle of sand the same as one would a castle of stone.

[Reinette may not know exactly what she writes, and so makes some minor mistakes, but the TARDIS understands the meanings behind each symbol. eventually, she begins tracing her own response in the sand, taking Reinette's Gallifreyan and writing back in French]

I don't think I've ever constructed a castle of stone. Do we just pile it up and hope it sticks, I suppose?

[Arthur is mostly focused on the symbols, because he tends to fail at social things with sentient anythings. He is mindful enough to give the TARDIS her space]

The symbols, do they mean anything?

Not a fan of beaches, myself.

We would require mortar between the layers, structural beams and supports so that it does not fall in on itself, and make sure we create a steady, wider base so that the top does not collapse. [looks at what they have to work with, then back at Handy] We have sand. And buckets. In the image archive I have on sand castles, I often see a bucket used to make a condensed base. Perhaps we should start there?
