24- Old home, new memories

[Jack is sitting on his bed, fully dressed. There's a small bedside table piled high with items, most of which he hasn't seen for a very, very long time. There's a proper table a few feet away, with several books and papers piled on top of it. There is also a set of drawers, a closet, and a recliner. His backpack, the one he carried a certain hand in during S3, is resting next to the bed.

This is Jack's old room, the one he had in the TARDIS. He' stares at his things for a few moments longer, then stands and walks over to the desk, grabbing the end of it and pushing for a few moments. Once it's been moved far enough to be satisfied, he starts working on its contents. He's not so much tidying up as just...rearranging everything]

[that backpack holds memories man. memories! but he'll just be picking up a book on the bedside table and flipping through it]

Redecorating all ready?

[Jack freezes when he hears that voice, looking up. He stares for a long moment, slowly putting down the book he was holding. Suddenly he grins, his whole posture seeming to change] Look who's finally decided to show her pretty face here again.

[It should be noted that Jack now thinks the Universe hates him and has the worst timing possible]

[There is no jar in it, this time! He used to actually pack things he wanted to bring along, which is a first for that backpack]

[she will squee now because it's been an even longer time since she's seen Jack and she might indulge in squee ramble]

Keep hearing all that sorta thing. Is not me you've been spotting around this place. Well not me me. Half a dozen Rose Tylers running around by the sounds of it all, or it's just two. I dunno, is one or the other I'm sure.

[bites her lip, still in excited squee mode and she'll give Jack's shoulder a playful nudge]

So does that mean there's a whole load of you wreaking havoc on the place as well?

[Ianto would say something, but he doesn't recognise anything but the backpack, so he's going to take a moment to be confused.]

I suppose if I'm not in your way. [picks up odds and ends, inspecting them, then flops down on the bed and starts flipping through a book] You're sure you don't need any help?

[Jack does not actually notice him, yet! He's busy pushing the stuff around the desk so that it looks different than before, even if it means making it messier]

[Sighs, and knocks his hands out of the way so he can do it himself.] I knew there was a reason I've never let you arrange your own desk.

[And Jack will be hugging Rose now. Good thing he has practice in not making it seem like he's clinging]

[Jack frowns, though it doesn't take him long to realize who's attempting to fix up his desk. He doesn't even have to look up] Ianto, don't. I'm not looking to make it neater.

You could probably move some new stuff in too, if you wanted. There's a shopping planet I've been wanting to revisit, maybe two against one we could get the Doctor to go back. New furniture and things would probably make redecorating somewhat easier.

[He hugs her a little tighter, giving her a soft squeeze before letting go] It's good to see you, Rose.

[He seems satisfied with how he's arranged everything on the desk. A moment later he's back to pushing it around, however]

I'm quite fond of the current furniture, though something new couldn't hurt. Bookcase, maybe.

A bookcase might be good, I think. Maybe you might get something to hang on the walls, too. Liven the place up a little. You're going to be here for quite a while, I'm sure.
