[Amaterasu is here, carrying a mobile phone between her teeth, carefully so that she doesn't break it or drool on it. Once she's on the Plane she sits down and sets the phone in front of her, tilting her head at it. She paws at it a little, which sets off the vibrate. She jumps back and watches the phone vibrate against the floor from a few feet away.]

Well, I must admit, I really have no idea what to do with this thing. No one in Kamiki has seen anything like this, although I believe I have seen this little machine around here before. It is used to contact people, like instant letters, yes? Hm, although I wonder why that voice was trying to sell me...what was it? A "time share?"

[The phone stops vibrating and she shakes her head, looking quite bewildered.]

Ah, Sam, if you are around, I may need your help with this. Or really, anyone who knows what these things do.

Ah, no! The note said that you needed help, and of course I am willing to provide...though I do wonder what exactly you think you need my help with. In any case, it is simply that I really don't know how these things work. [She noses at the mobile.] But I am certainly willing to learn!

Oh, that's not the trouble, really. I can have hands easily enough. It's just that there are so many little buttons, and each one changes the picture a little bit. And when it starts singing I really have no idea what to do, although that means that someone is trying to contact me, yes?

Ah, well of course! But even so, it is still such a mystery to me.

It's not hard. Each phone has a number. You type in that number and you call the other phone. Then you talk.

Ah, is that how it works? The numbers, then, they are like addresses or names?

From Sam Tyler, actually! It came with a note saying that he and the others here might need my help, though I am unsure whether he means something specific or not.

OK. People need food to live, right?

Machines need power to work. Cell phones are powered by little metal things called batteries. But these things run out of power and need to be recharged after a while.

But I presume that these do not need to eat to survive. [She tilts her head at the phone.] Do they absorb sunlight, then? Or, I suppose it is a machine, so I suppose that it might take lightning.
