[Alanna steps out onto the Plane, looking confused, her hand going to the hilt of her sword. She's in the market today, so she's clad in a fairly inconspicuous tunic and trousers, sword at her hip.] George? This isn't one of your tricks, is it? [she frowns thoughtfully] It doesn't look like any illusion I've ever seen. Maybe -

No, but I would know if I'd died and gone to the Black God's Realm.

What do you think, Faithful? [glancing down at the ground] Faithful?

[great, now her cat's gone. this is just too much. she draws her sword] Who's responsible for this? Show yourselves! I swear, if you've done anything to Jon, I'll-

[now she feels a little silly waving a sword at the darkness, so she sheathes it again, her free hand going to something tucked under her tunic at the base of her neck] No sign of magic anywhere. But this obviously isn't Corus. [she's still wary, keeping an eye out for any danger, and a ball of violet fire blossoms over the palm of one hand] There's no sense in standing around and waiting for something to sneak up on me - if things can sneak up here. There's not exactly much to hide behind. [she starts exploring her new surroundings]

Black God? Ah, I believe I have heard that name before, somewhere. Hm, but there is no such god here, nor is this the realm of any god or goddess. Although there are indeed a handful of godly-types wandering this place.

[sorry, Aniki, you get a 'bzuhwha?' stare for figuring out that she's a girl]

[Alanna's surprisingly unfazed by the talking wolf - probably because her pet cat talks to her. Or because she thinks she's going mad.] Godly-types? [a pause] ...what is this place, if I might ask?

[Whut. Hei knows that name.] Excuse me... [He hesitates, not...knowing if it's a boy or a girl D:] Um, do you know someone named Aniki?

[not yet!] No, I don't. Should I?

[Raised eyebrow] Pounce take your tongue?

Sorry, it's just that...[well, she's stuck Gods know where, she might as well admit to it] Most people don't figure that out right away.

That I'm a girl. [and that last word is said a little distastefully, because someone is still having trouble accepting what the Goddess told her]

[hands on her hips, stubbornly] You're the first person to figure it out in four years!

[she laughs at that] In the palace, actually.

Well, she--I mean, she's mentioned Corus before...

I'm sorry, let me back up. Welcome to the Astral Plane.

The Astral Plane? That's what this place is called? [she glances around her again] Well, it makes sense = there's enough stars here. Not many that I recognize, though.

[Frowning at the sword]

There's some magic here.

[sorry, Dorothy, she wears it all the time] None of the kind I'm used to, then.

[She's starting to get that, yeah!]

No. But that doesn't mean it's not there.

[a shrug] Fair enough. It's a strange place, so it makes sense that there'd be strange magic here, too.

[A soft 'Ah,' because THIS EXPLAINS MUCH.] Of course you do.

[she eyes Aniki for a moment] I'm Alanna. [and it feels weird, introducing herself with her real name]

Most magic is strange, I think, to the people here. Don't get a whole lot of people who even believe it exists, much less can use it.

Oh, but there're a few witches and wizards around, so it's not a complete loss.

Aniki. [Inspects her, taking in the practical clothes, the weapon, the lot.] Going for your knighthood, are you? And here I thought Lady Sabine was one of the last.

My twin brother's training to be a mage. I have the Gift, but, well, I mostly use it for healing.
