[Astrid steps out onto the plane, for all her excitement and wide-eyed wonder at her discovery, there's a sense of reticence to her movements initially. She's caught been absolute fascination and an inherent fear that this can't be good news. She's witnessed too much on Earth for this to bode well. The most recent event of her reality being Dalek's subjugating Earth and the entire planet being displaced and returned. But it's so beautiful, and surely something as amazing as this has to be something wonderful. Surely something like this, has to be something the Doctor's aware of. Maybe, just maybe, she's one step closer to finding him.]

Oh my Vot! This is... this is amazing! [She gasps, her eyes sparkling and her smile broadening at the sight before her.]

It's so beautiful. [She's spinning on her heels now, whirling around in excited enthusiasm, looking around and upwards, taking it all in. If it's dangerous, then its beauty is blinding any thoughts of that.]

This is definitely not Earth anymore, at least not the Earth I know. [She almost squeals in delight, before her thoughts are dragged down to more pressing issues.]

Wait! There's no Daleks are there? I thought we'd heard the last of them. Please tell me there are no Daleks here. There can't be, nowhere this beautiful could harbour monsters like that. What is this place? I love it! [And she's bouncing again, literally bouncing.]

I have to find him here! There's no way he won't know somewhere like this exists. Oh my Vot! This is so exciting.

No Daleks, as far as I have learned. This place is called the Astral Plane. For its stars, I think.

It really is! I think I could wander for hours just admiring it! [cue more ADD as she can't stop looking around]

[she might have hoped, but she didn't really expect, he IS here. She's finally found him! She stands rooted to the spot, dumbstruck, the biggest grin spreading across her lips and a gasp. Now where did she put her voice? And how do her legs work again?]

Well that's a relief. I think I've seen enough of them to last me a lifetime.

[that earns Tosh a slightly more cynical look, everyone else has quite gladly confirmed that there aren't Daleks here]

Oh I'm sure, I've seen 'monsters' that look like angels.

Oh, no, there are no Daleks here. [But the mention of that name alone, not to mention the planet Earth, has piqued Susan's curiosity.] Are you from the 22nd century?

[Have a Chris, his neck a little yellow from the remains of a bad bruise but Astrid's bright enthusiasm draws him out.]

Yes, I've been told, I can't tell you how much of a relief that is.

[bright smile!] Almost, the 21st. [she'd say that where she comes from, they don't measure centuries from the same starting point, but she doesn't know yet that it's safe to say she's not from Earth]

So-- are there people here from the 22nd century?

Who wouldn't be? It's just gorgeous, I only wish I'd found it sooner. [she beams at Chris]

[a pause and a slight frown] Unless there's something people aren't telling me...

The 21st? [So close to her favourite century, which makes her smile. Susan's very fond of 20th century Earth.]

No, no, not that I know of. I ... travel a lot, that's all. I didn't know Daleks reached the Earth so soon. [That shouldn't have happened, should it?]

[He smiles.] If they didn't tell you, they weren't telling me neither.

[He sticks out his hand.] DC Chris Skelton.

[oh that's made her curious, cue a nonchalant hand to the back of her neck] You travel? In time?

Unfortunately they do, it was a few months back now, and touch wood, they've gone.

Well either we're both in the dark here DC Skelton, or it really is quite safe here.

[she shakes his hand, but Astrid's smile isn't quite as natural as it could be now. He's a policeman, and that makes her nervous. No visa, I.D etc.]

[After a moment of hesitation, Susan nods. Her grandfather would probably tell her off for being so open, but she's never been very good at hiding who - what? - she is.]

I'm glad they've gone. Did they do much damage?

[Astrid's even more curious now, but she'll answer the question first.]

It's not good. [she winces a little], the whole planet was a warzone, and then they just vanished. [apparently the Rift didn't put things back as they were in Astrid's universe]. But it's recovering.

Do you travel alone?

[He shrugs a bit, still smiling easily.]

Yeah, you too, Astrid. Just call me Chris. Not much work I can do around here.

[Susan, thinking of the mess the Daleks left in the 22nd century, shivers a little, and nods understandingly.] I wonder where they went.

[She shakes her head.] Oh, no. I travel with my grandfather. We have friends with us sometimes, but it's usually just us.

Chris it is then. [perhaps slightly more relieved about that than she should be, you can practically see the tension drop.]

So where exactly are we? I mean I know what's it's called, but beyond that...
