{Diva is dressed up in the kimono that Amaterasu gave her, and with light makeup to match. She's sitting at a vanity that she's brought to the plane, trying to put her hair up carefully}

Ne, I knew that being in a show was a lot of hard work, but I had no idea that they wouldn't have any proper make-up and hair stylists until the actual performance. It's been such a long time since I've had to do this myself.

{And she tries to pin it in place, but it all falls back down, which she frowns at}

Oh, it's not working at all! I'm really happy to have the part in Madama Butterfly, but...it's hard. Does anyone here know how to put this up better? And maybe teach me too.

Oh, yes! I'm playing the part of Butterfly, actually.

{Frowns}

I've never had to do it myself, though! Especially in this time, since Nathan really liked to do things like this.

{She glances back at Sam}

Besides, I don't really need it, do I?

[didorothy]

[teasingly] Well, maybe a bit...

[madamemoiselle]

{She turns to face Sam}

I...! I do not!

{She makes a 'hmph' noise, turning back to the mirror}

Ne, it's harder than it looks, though. I need Nathan again.

[didorothy]

[amused] You're fine. You don't need anything.

[madamemoiselle]

{She frowns for a few more seconds, but then smiles softly, taking the bobby pins to try again}

You shouldn't tease, Sam. That's not fair.

[didorothy]

You handled it just fine, Diva.

[madamemoiselle]

Ne, but it's still a little blow to my pride, you know~ Especially from Sam!

[didorothy]

[smiles slightly]

I think there are enough people in the world praising your beauty that your pride could do with a hit or two.

[madamemoiselle]

But from Sam, I think it counts double. Either way, really.

[didorothy]

You know you're beautiful. You don't need me telling you.

[pats her shoulder gently]

Is this make-up for the opening performance, then, or dress rehearsal?

It's still nice to hear, though. Especially from Sam, since he's more special to me than some random person.

{And a warmer smile at the touch}

Dress rehearsal! They're pushing this performance forward since I already now the part.

[didorothy]

[doesn't say anything to that, but smiles]

Could you get away with not putting any make-up on? I don't think you do need any, rehearsal or otherwise.

Well, the make-up isn't so much the problem as trying to put my hair up. Japanese women don't really wear their hair down, apparently.

[didorothy]

My very slight exposure to Eastern media would mostly agree with you, I think.

[runs a hand through his own, very short (for '73) hair]

I can't say I know how to do anything about it.
