[Tosh has been absent from the Plane for awhile because the Year ended, and that meant that she and Ianto were dragged back in time, which, in turn, undid all the work that she'd accomplished. (And, really, she can't complain about it, since Owen and Gwen are alive again - she just wishes all her work existed somewhere other than in her head.) So she's been trying to make up for lost time ever since then, being the workaholic that she is. And, she's finally figured out, where better to make up for lost time than the Plane? She's brought her desk from Torchwood, and she's going back and forth between checking things on her computer monitor and working quite intently on an obviously alien gizmo of some sort (see icon!). She looks quite exhausted, with deep bags under her eyes, but she also doesn't appear to be quitting anytime soon.]

((ooc: Not having a job anymore means I get to have more time to post! But, uh, I'm actually going to bed now and will get to tags in the morning. >_> I just wanted to put something up, okay? Martha will probably follow suit tomorrow night or something. Please forgive me? ;.;))

[Rose just stares at the woman on the Plane, watching her work on something. It manages to quip her curiosity as she walks over and pushes some hair away from her face.]

Um, hello. What's that?

[attracted by technology, one stares fixedly at Tosh's work on the gizmo but without comment]

[have a curious little girl peeking over your technology]

What's that?

[Hakkai watches, a bit curious, but he chooses not to interrupt her work for the moment.]

[Ianto hands her a mug of coffee and a note; "You should get some sleep, Tosh." He's really starting to hate not being able to talk. :(]

[Oooh! Gizmo! Have a curious Silver] That looks fascinating.

It's part of a security system for the Hub. Or, well, it's supposed to be, once I figure out how to integrate it.

I think it's a force field generator, but I'm not quite sure. [she prods it and sends sparks up]

[she sips the coffee] Thanks, Ianto. I don't have time to sleep, though.

[glancing up at him and smiling] It is a bit, yeah.

[still working on her gizmo, sending a few sparks up when she prods it]

[she keeps working, pushing her glasses up as she focuses intently on the gadget]

[Frowns, and hands her another note. "Of course you do. Time doesn't pass whilst you're here, remember."]

[you and your logic, Ianto] Right, right. That's why I'm working here. There's nowhere to sleep, though. [ignoring the obvious solution of, uh, bringing her bed with her] Why the notes?

["Can't talk. Probably the Twins fault. You could always try bringing your bed here."]

[frown] Why would they take your voice away? That doesn't make any sense.

["Nothing they do makes any sense."]

Well, I'm just glad they haven't done anything to me yet. [sigh] Losing a year of work is so irritating, Ianto. [but they both know that it's better than the alternative]

["At least you can remember what you were working on."]

Good point. I just can't remember everything I did, so I have to recreate it through trial and error.

["I could help with the easier stuff, if you wanted."]

[smile] That'd be really nice, Ianto. [wry chuckle] It might even give me some time to get some sleep.

["You should get some sleep, anyway. You won't be able to work as effectively if you don't."]

You sound like my mother. [sad smile]

["I'm just making sense, Tosh. Even you're not good enough to function without sleep."]

I'm not Jack, you mean.

["Even Jack sleeps occasionally."]

Really? I don't think I've ever seen him sleep. [a hint of a smile] I expect you would know better than I would, though.

["I don't usually see him. Even when he does sleep, I usually fall asleep first."]

[and now Tosh feels kind of awkward. Good job, Tosh.] ...oh.

[Oh dear, she seems rather intent on her work. It would be rude to stare. Hakkai, however, keeps right on lurking. :|b But after a moment, he asks a bit quietly,]

If I might ask -- what is that you're working on?

It's a force field generator, I think. It was salvaged from an alien crash site a few decades ago, but nobody's tried to utilise it yet.

What precisely is it?

[...and Ianto can't think of anything to write in response to that, so he just nods slighlty.]

Ah, that sounds quite complicated--

. . . Sorry, I'm sure it's not my place to ask, but do you mean, er, extraterrestrial aliens?

Ah, right. So you're like tech support then?

[eyes the spark and moves closer] Really? Is it broken?

[moves closer]
