Ianto? Are you down here? What's going on? [pause] This obviously isn't the vaults...perhaps the Rift's been acting up again. I'm not sure I've ever heard of it taking people and transporting them elsewhere, though. Logically, it would make sense that it works both ways, but why hasn't it happened before now?

[she takes another few steps, looking around] All the constellations are here...and in the ground. Or...whatever this is. [she reaches down, examining the surface] This is quite unusual - it shouldn't even be possible. Then again, I live with a pet pterodactyl. You'd think that very little could surprise me by now.

[Edges over] Hi, you know Ianto?

[a little confused by the presence of another person] Yeah, we work together.

Ianto! Thank God you're here! ...you know, wherever here is.

The Astral Plane. I probably should've mentioned it, but I wasn't sure you'd ever be able to get here.

How long have you been here, then? [she furrows her brow in confusion] And...this is just too weird, even for Torchwood. I mean, the stars!

Ah, you must be new to here.

[nod] I'm Tosh. [awkward Tosh is awkward!]

[Tugs at hair, also slightly embarrassed] Uh... Nice to meet you.

This is the plane.

Weird sort of name, "the plane". Though I work in a place called the Hub, so I guess I don't have much room to talk.

About four months now... and this is actually a machine. It broke down last month, and the stars weren't here again until they it got repaired.

[she kneels down, peering at the floor again, like she's trying to see the machine so she can take it apart and figure out how it works] Another dimension that's actually a machine? That shouldn't be possible.

Its full name is the Astral plane... You can tell that I don't often explain things can't you?

[Tugs at her hair again and suppresses a blush] You have a pet pterodactyl?

You know Ianto-san?

[small smile] It's all right, I'm...not terribly used to being around other people right now.

Yeah, Ianto found it a couple years ago. It sort of...came through a rift in space and time and ended up in Cardiff.

[Oh hai, have a kitten!]

[nod] We work together. [in Japanese] Do you speak Japanese?

Well, hello there. [she bends over and lets Cy sniff her hand before petting her]

It must be somehow, or we wouldn't be here. We're not the only ones either. There are people here from all sorts of realities.

[!! Also in Japanese] Of course.

[prods the floor] Different realities?

Hello! [Rubs herself against Tosh's hand]

[Slight smile] Yeah.

[Slightly wide eyes] Ah, job hazard?

[happy smile] I grew up living with my grandparents in Osaka. Though...I haven't had the opportunity to speak it much since I joined Torchwood.

[surprised look] You talk?
