[ Here she is again, this time without fancy frocks or bandages. Pacing. And thinking. And probably straining her pretty little brain. It's usually a bad sign when Angela is actually giving pause to think about something. ]

Something on your mind?

I talked to the guild leader tonight.

What did he say?

They want to set up a base in Altena. Apparently he doubted my mother would approve, but since I'll be Queen soon enough...

I don't know what to do.

[That is...complicated.] Did he tell you why he suddenly wants to establish a base there? Is it because of the Mafia?

You look deep in thought.

Angie? You okay?

He said his main goal is expansion. I think there's more to it than that. I'll have to get the full story before I make any kind of decision.

He's heard about the mafia in Altena. He said they could keep them in line for me. I think it's more that he figures we're more lenient if there's a mafia hanging around and we haven't done anything to shut them down. That, and I'm friends with Hawk, I know how the guild works, and I'll be in power within the next couple of years. He's offered to let me be involved in all their projects.

[ She stops her pacing to smile at Hei. ] Sorry, did you smell something burning?

[ She looks up and smiles. ] Mmm, I'm all right. Just... thinking things over. Stuff with the Thieves' Guild.

Burning? ...No... [Confuzzled.]

Then I'm not thinking that hard. [ She shakes her head. ] It's about stuff back home. With Navarre.

I'd warn you about wearing out the floor, but I don't know if that's even remotely possible here.

[ Looks down ] I'm not sure if I want to think about that. How long do you figure I'd be falling?

[He watches her, concerned by her expression.]

[Gets it!] Oh! [Chuckles.]

I told you about the Thieves Guild, right? They want to set up another base in Altena.

Mmm, a little. [ Small smile. ] Trying to make a decision on something. I thought I wouldn't have to worry about this kind of stuff until I became Queen, but I guess that's not the case.

Get the full story. It's never good to make a decision unless you know everything.

It probably has a lot to do with you going to be in power soon. It's a good sense for him to try and get you on his side.

I know. I'm going to meet with him a couple more times, back on Altenian soil, before I commit to anything. And I might not even commit before I'm crowned Queen-- I don't really have the right to make that kind of a decision yet.

I just worry what position it would put me in. Not everyone in Altena is wealthy, but a decent number are, and if they try to "redistribute" the wealth, like they do in Navarre, things could get messy.

You're in line to become queen? I wasn't aware. [small smile in return] Would it help you to talk it through?

So you might have a chance to think this through..that's good. This isn't something you should do carelessly.

I wish I could offer more advice but I don't know enough about Altena to offer anything specific...

It's okay. I'm going to have to think it over. I might talk to Riesz about it, too.

[ Streeeetch ] I just need to relax a bit. This whole situation's got me all tense.

I am. I'll be crowned within the next two years. [ She taps her chin a bit. ] Well, I'm friends with a member of the Thieves' Guild in another country. They're good people, they pretty much steal to support the poor and unfortunate. The guild's leader is interested in setting up a base in my country. I'm not sure what to say to that.

I see... [He thinks on it for a moment...] What would be the downside of this?

For one, I'm not sure of the guild leader's intentions. He's a new leader, and while everyone seems to like him, I'm just not comfortable with him yet. For another, there's a decent amount of wealth in Altena. If that gets "redistributed" by the guild, I could have some very upset nobility on my hands.

Riesz? Another friend of yours?

[That reminds him of something he's been thinking about...] You went to Firo's world once...how did you get there?

I see. Not the best way to help the poor, really.

I would be suspicious that he's simply using you for your future position of power, but that can't even be proven. Hmm, what is he offering in return?

She's the first of my group that I met, actually. We're pretty close. She's also Queen of Rolante.

It's sort of... Well, you grab a hold of the person you want to take, and pull them through. It helps if you're near part of your world that's been influenced by theirs. I pulled Firo through once because I had a newspaper, and he pulled me into snowy Central Park.

Not really. It works pretty well in Navarre, since there's no Sultan to speak of, but it'd be a lot different in Altena.

He's offering to keep the crime at bay in Altena, really. Because of this place and the people I've gotten to know here, a crime circle has... leaked through. They haven't really done anything, but it's got my mother concerned. He volunteered to keep them in line and let me have a hand in all the guild's projects. I'm just not sure my people would be terribly happy having them around.

Then it does sound like it would be a good idea to talk to her.

Sure, but there are other ways to keep crime in check with fewer strings attached. How sure are you of his motives?

Not very. Like I said, he's new, doesn't have much of a history. Everyone seems to like him and he's done a good job so far...

Problem is, I also don't want to make an enemy of the guild. They're a good source of information.

I'm sure you and he could find some sort of compromise. Besides, two years is quite a while to make any sort of decision.

[He gives her a small smile in an attempt to offer some sort of reassurance.] Don't wear yourself into the ground thinking on it right this minute. I'm sure he understands that you aren't the queen just yet.

Well parts of our worlds have merged and I've been wanting to show you my city. It's beautiful and I want to share it with you.

[ She turns a little pink and nods. ]

I'd like that.

Great! Just tell whenever you want to visit.

[ Now she's less concerned about the Navarre situation and more about what she's going to wear... Dino gets a hug! ]

I will!

[He cheered her up, so he's happy! He hugs her back] I'll make sure you have fun!

I... don't really think I'd like to think about that, either. At all.
