04 - Troll Cat

[He appears on the plane, rail-thin, hair matted and scorched. He takes a few steps, seems to fall asleep on his feet, sway, startle awake and stagger forward again. He's mumbling to himself all the while.]

Our blood is a book. But what... But what if....?

[He manages a few more steps.] Our blood... [And he topples over.]

[Jack worriedly crouches besides the cat, inspecting it] Still with me?

[Lays quite still for a moment before he gives a vague sort of motion with his paws, like he's still trying to move forward despite being on his side.]

Pertelot... The wires... Wait for me, Pertelot....

[Jack doesn't say anything, just inspects the damage for a few moments longer before dropping from the Plane, returning with a few medical supplies]

[Jack's reappearance seems to touch off a sixth sense of some kind. Ragnar flails awake.] The kittens!

[holds him down, gently but firmly] Calm down, you're on the Plane. You'll just make yourself worse if you keep moving around.

[He's panting, and even that seems to exhaust him, but he still manages to fight against the pressure Jack puts on him. Not very effectively, but he tries.]

Can't stop... Need... what if...

[Very worried face, kneels down besides him] What happened?

[Scoops Rags up, cradling him, and, of course, making with the healing tingles] What happened?

Wha...?

[Will be crouching down beside him now, checking for injuries.]

[Twitch. He jerks awake, giving Hei a vacant look. He doesn't seem particularly injured--a bit frostbitten around the nose, maybe, but the thick blanket of his fur seems to have taken the worst of the burns.]

The kittens...

[He jerks awake and attacks Mu's shoulder with a snarl, seeming completely oblivious to what's going on.]

[He twitches, giving her a bleary look.]

Kittens... Have to... the kittens...

You need healing, then you can worry about the kittens.

[Barely flinches] Shhh. Calm down. You are safe.

[Nods to himself, satisfied.]

You're not injured. But you need rest--and probably food. [Pauses thoughtfully.] I sort of own a cat. What do you like to eat?

Pertelot... I need to...

[He rolls to his feet and manages a few stumbling paces forward.] No...

[Has a mouthful of shoulder or cloth, whichever, and is growling dazedly, weakening with each little thrash.]

[Pulls him gently away from his shoulder, offering his hand in sacrifice]

Time doesn't pass here. You can afford to stay and rest for awhile.

[Sort of lost his initiative and just stares at Mu's hand.]

[Staggers to his feet.]

But what if... But what if I'm a father?

[Gentle pets and still with the healing] What happened?
