[Martha appears on the Plane, still six inches tall and quite thoroughly annoyed]

All right, I've really had quite enough of this, thanks. Being six inches tall makes it a little difficult to do, oh, anything? It's like I'm a bloody action figure or something.

So if someone could turn me back now, that'd be brilliant.

{Ding! This witch can certainly help, but she does chuckle as she kneels} Ah, you don't like the height? It seems very cute to me. I'm sure it could be useful at times as well~

But! That's not really the point. I'd be more than happy to return you to your proper height as long as you can pay for it~

[she arches an eyebrow as she looks up at her] Pay? What's your price?

Three inches. I'll return you to normal, but you'll be three inches shorter than you were before.

[thinking about it] What can you do with three inches?

{She laughs} Perhaps someday a person will come to my shop wishing to be taller. Then the three inches that you gave up would come of great use to them.

So you run a shop where you make magical bargains, then? [interested look] We don't have magic in my world.

My shop is one that sells and grants wishes. So for the proper price, I'll grant any wish a person has. Of course, it's quite possible that magic does exist in your world. There are few that it does not. However, it's something that's faded out of humanity's view, for the most part. It's become fiction, but all fiction is based on at least some fact, right?

{She smiles} But whether you have it or not, that's an advantage of this place. There's one witch from another world that'll be happy to hear your wish.

[wryly] And she'll have her own price, too, I expect?

I meant myself~ But it's simply how magic works. You have to give up something of equal value for it to work correctly. Taking too much or too little is damaging. Even if it's so slight that it seems insignificant, it could be enough to kill the magician~ So no matter where you go, you'll have the problem!

Hm, that sounds logical enough. All right, then. [she squeezes her eyes shut and waits - not really sure why she's closing her eyes, but there you have it]

{With that, Martha blacks out, only to awaken presumably a short time later in Yuuko's house on the Plane, completely back to normal, minus three inches. Martha is laying on an assortment of very soft and plush pillows on Yuuko's back porch. She's smoking a very fragrant substance, but she smile cheerfully to see she's awake} Ah, welcome back~ I probably should have told you that you would pass out, but it's fine.

[she blinks dazedly, rubbing her head] Okay, that...was a little weird. It's good to be back to normal. [and she smiles weakly at Yuuko, because she's still a little disoriented] Thank you. [looking around at her surroundings] We're still on the Plane, aren't we?

Oh, yes~ I would have had to charge extra for bringing you to my real home. This is just a mirror of it so that my customers can have all the comforts and conveniences of my shop without having to travel between realities~ That's a risky business, after all.

Huh. [looking thoughtful for a moment] Sorry about all the questions, it's just that I'm still new here, and I don't know how everything works yet. You can...bring things to the Plane, yeah? Does that include houses?

Oh, it's fine~ Basic questions about this place are free of charge~ But, yes, some people bring entire buildings here. I couldn't say exactly what the limit is, but if you want to bring it with you that badly, it'll come.

Ah, but this shop is a little different because of how it exists. So when I said it's a mirror, I mean it! Everything is backwards in this house, actually, since I'm just using a magic mirror to reflect it here. So that's not quite the same.

Wow, I've still got a lot to learn, it seems. [amused chuckle] Someone ought to write a guidebook for those newly brought here. [headtilt] Backwards, eh? That must get confusing for you.

It's a learning experience! I haven't been here long myself, though~

{Thoughtfully} Well, it's not so bad, unless I want to drink from my personal stash. Then the labels are all backwards. It's hard to read backwards.

[laugh] You could always hold up a mirror to reflect the reflection.

I could~ But that'd be such a bother. So I just pick something and hope that it's good! It's not like it's terribly important. Sake is sake, after all~

[smiles] Yeah, I suppose it doesn't make much difference in the end. [suddenly realises she's forgotten to introduce herself] I'm Martha, by the way. Martha Jones.

Yuuko Ichihara. It's a pleasure, Martha. Oh, and so you know in the future, if you ever have a problem, I'd be glad to help with that all the same. My shop is open 24 hours a day, after all~

[nod] I'll certainly keep that in mind. And I dunno if you can heal yourself with your magic or not, but if you can't, and you ever find yourself in need of medical attention, you can come to me.

Oh, a doctor, I take it? Excellent~ It's a very honorable profession!

[smile] Yeah, I am. Fully-qualified and everything. Though I haven't been able to do much for the last few days - hard to treat people when you're only six inches tall.

I would imagine! In that case, I'm glad to have been able to help. I always have more respect for my clients that chose to preserve life rather than fragment it~!
