[Someone is very, very pissed. She's standing very still out in an open area of the plane, her fists clenched behind her back and shaking very slightly.]

Master. I would like a word.

[have one of two. he's slightly drunk and smells of smoke, and his clothes are a bit disheveled. he stares, for a moment, before laughing]

I would like to know what you've done to Li Shengshun, and whether or not he is still alive.

[the Master raises a brow and tilts his head] What makes you think I know what he's... [a pause] ...been doing? Or alive or whatever it is.

I think we both know, but if your going to perform verbal ballet simply to enjoy my tension, how is this? The bracelets. I know what he did. And I know he recently felt in danger for having done it. Now, again, if you would be so kind as to answer my original question.

[the Master is only half paying attention, but that's enough for him, anyway. and even though he's a bit drunk, he knows how to handle himself in this situation, and he plays it as follows] Why, thank you for that lovely bit of information. I had been wondering who put the bracelets on us.

Just because someone goes missing doesn't mean it's us, you know.

I'm a cop, Master. It's my job to make the occasional wild assumption based on the information I have available. He put the bracelets on you. He felt threatened by someone on the plane. I know for a fact you no longer have your bracelet. You have to agree that logic leans rather heavily in your direction.

Us--so the older version of yourself was involved after all. I suppose it's only to be expected. I presume he has his off as well, then--after all, what's the point of punishing someone who tried to take the edge off your power if you can't rub in their face that they've failed?

[the Master listens, then laughs] You make one critical oversight; you assume we knew it was him. Despite trying to figure out since it appeared on my wrist, I hadn't come up with a name. So thank you, my dear, for providing the entity of the man who did it to us.

[he waves a hand idly] Now if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be.

[Seizes his wrist. Coldly,] Please. You--I'm referring to both of your erstwhile selves--have the combined resources and mental faculties to out-think and outmaneuver the entire plane, with the possible exception of the Doctors. I find it very difficult to believe you had no luck procuring one simple name.

[oh, you don't want to do that, Misaki- because he is so much stronger than you; let it be illustrated by the fact that he is now moving to throw you off him] Perhaps, but I avoid the plane as a whole, unlike some of you people.

[Flight is as unpleasant as she remembers it; fortunately she knows how to fall, and is dragging herself back to her feet in moment, smudging a bit of blood from her cheek where she scraped against a bit of rubbish someone left on the plane.]

Your preference for a planet of cats is hardly the object of discussion.

I would appreciate it if you would at least answer me this before you go: Is Li Shengshun dead? [And she drops from the plane, appearing next to him with a bit of sidewalk, a lamppost and handcuffs, slamming one end around the post and aiming simultaneously for his wrist with the other.]

[ooh, she has him cuffed, but he is not daunted. instead, he laughs; he just tosses his head back and laughs] Hah! And you continue to prove the depths of your idiocy. You are a disappointment.

[but he quiets, for a moment, then grins, exposing his fangs] Pathetic. I scarcely feel pity, and this horrible display has actually made me pity you. I'll throw you a bone. Li, or rather... Hei, is dead.

[and without any more words, he drops right off the Plane. cuffs, sidewalk, lampost and all]

[She stands for a moment, gathering herself. She feels oddly calm, and even--shocking to her--amused.]
