[Shun appears on the Plane seated on a rock, wearing this outfit . He's holding piece of metal in his hands. Some people might recognize it as being the head piece to a Cloth, specifically that of the Cepheus Cloth. It's cracked slightly. Shun is looking at it with a sad expression on his face]

Shun? ...It is Shun, right? You look upset.

Shun-kun, are you okay?

Hmm? Yes, that's me. I'm fine, it's just...memories.

Memories. Yeah, memories can be a bitch. You find yourself wishing you could just...forget some things.

[Blinks, then tries to smile] I'm all right Nanoha.

You look sad. Did something happen?

[Nods] There are somethings it would be nice to forget. But this time it wasn't something I want to forget it's...memories of someone who isn't here anymore. [He runs his fingers over the cracks in the head piece]

No, nothing happened. I was just remembering something.

[Is silent a moment, staring at Shun. Then, earnestly,] I'm sorry for your loss.

Ne, is it anything you want to talk about..?

It's all right. It was a couple years ago.

I'll be fine. I shouldn't be feeling this bad anyway. He wouldn't want me too.

[ Have a hug, Shun. ]

[D'awww! Shun however, even though he is touched, is not sure how to respond since hugs are something he has never gotten much of. So he just smiles at her] Thank you.

[Silence because it really doesn't make a difference]

Albiore. He was the Cepheus Saint.

A saint? Like, Saint Christopher, Mother Theresa? I think Mother Theresa's a saint now...actually, I'm not sure.

[ And Nanoha doesn't really know how to comfort him beyond that. ] I hope you feel better, Shun-kun.

[That gets a small smile] That's the wrong kind of saint. Saint is also the title given to the warriors who serve the goddess Athena.

[Aww, Shun is touched] I will, I just needed some time.

Athena, the Greek goddess from myth?

Yes, that's her.

So she's real in your world.

[Lopsided grin.] That's actually pretty cool.

[Tiny grin] It is. [Then gets a serious look on his face] At least it is when there isn't a war.

So that's what happened to Albiore? A war?

I don't think you can really say that any war should have happened.

No I mean...Saints are suppose to fight, we know that. But we aren't suppose to end up fighting each other!

Athena is reborn into a mortal form to protect the world ever few hundred years. A Saints job is to fight to protect her.

Someone betrayed Athena, then lied and manipulated the other Saints.

...Sounds like a tough job. Is it something you're born into? Or did you have a choice?

I guess even saints have their share of sinners.

It's very tough. It seems impossible sometimes.

It takes years of training to become a Saint. Trainees are usually chosen when they're very young. I was six when I stated training.

Six. [Frowns.] You were just a kid. Who decided to turn a bunch of children into soldiers?

...Sorry. It's not my place to judge how things are where you're from. So I'm sorry about that. But my opinion is still that, that sucks.

Kido was the one who decided to send some of us off to become Saints, but starting training young is just how it's been done for thousands of years. Master Albiore said it was because it's easier for children to learn how to use Cosmo.

Maybe, but I don't regret my life at all. Despite everything that happened I still have my friends and my Nii-san. For me that's enough.

[Headtilt.] So Albiore was your master.

And what exactly is Cosmo?

Yeah. Yeah, as long as you have something like that, then it's worth it. People who make your life a bit closer to good.

[Nod] He's the one who taught me how to be a Saint.

[Always has trouble describing something that just is to him] Cosmo is the energy of the universe. It's the ability to break the bond between atoms. Once you can do that, you can do anything.

Yes. My friends are the reason I fight as Saint.

[Nods and is quiet a moment.]

...Not just soldiers, miniature nuclear reactors too? Nice.

Well, as long as you have a reason.

I won't fight if I don't have a reason too. I don't like hurting people.

Good. That's good. If you did like hurting people I'd have to start getting worried.
