3rd Heart - That Sound

[And Jackie pops into the Plane in stride, walking towards his chair from last time. In his right hand is one of his .45s, which he didn't feel like hiding this time. He sits down without delay, and then stops for a few seconds. Then, he ejects the magazine into his left hand and runs his thumb along it, before storing it away in his pocket. Following that, he pulls back the chamber and ejects a bullet, catching it in the palm of his hand. He holds it for a moment before dropping it on the ground beside his foot, which promptly moves to cover it.

A handful of seconds where nothing happens pass, and then he resets the chamber back to its normal position. Slowly, he extends arm to the side, pointing at nothing in particular. He pulls the trigger down, and just listens to the click that follows. He does this again, pointing the gun up into the air, and then once more, pressing the side of the gun against his ear. And then finally, he pushes the tip into the side of his head.

He stays like this for a short period of time before finally and quickly pulling the trigger. And this time, he flinches at the click. He holds that position, trigger pulled back, for exactly three seconds, removing the gun from his head and resting it on his lap. And he lets a long breath out.]

Still the scariest sound I've ever heard.

[Doesn't seem surprised by Dino's presence or voice, and nods slowly]

Remember hearing that when I was younger...scared the shit out of me. Never changed.

[Looks up, and grins slightly] It's a sound I like to remind myself of.

{Chuckles a little} Why is that? It's scary, so why remind yourself?

Good question. [And he lifts the gun back up, and waves it around a little bit] Because I don't want to forget it.

[madamemoiselle]

{Sits down beside the chair} Somehow, I don't think that you will. But that's all?

[A pause, and then he turns his head to stare at Diva]

I suppose it's also morbid curiosity. I want to see if it still scares me.

[madamemoiselle]

How strange. I wouldn't want to remind myself of something scary.

Strange? I guess so.

If I had to rationalize it...I'd say I do it so that it's always there and fresh. So that no one else will be able to scare me like that.

That is one of those gun things, is it not?

[And Hei now has confirmation of his suspicions. So he just sort of stands back, saying nothing, his face unreadable.]

[Lifts the gun up and waves it in the air]

.45 handgun. One of my two best friends.

[And doesn't really seem to look his way yet. Looks down at the gun again, shifts his foot a bit, and then looks up and sighs. Before turning his head and locking his gaze on Hei]

But they are weapons, aren't they? Why would you point it at yourself??

[Gives the gun a long hard look, and then looks over it and at Amaterasu.]

To remind myself of that sound.

[Meets his gaze levelly.] I'd think the bang would be scarier.

[A moment] So did I.

[Walks toward him slowly, flowers and grass springing up in her wake.]

And why would you wish to do that?

Couple reasons. To keep it fresh, a morbid sense of curiosity, et cetera.

[Smiles.] But nothing is ever what it seems, right?

Nope. Nothing. A little girl walks down a street on a Sunday morning, up to this house, and detonates a bomb she was wearing. Did anyone see it coming?

The bang, the click? Those are what seem. But in reality...they're nothing at all.
