[Isn't it a little too late in the year for Easter?
Too bad. If you're on the Plane, you have a pretty good chance of encountering a dragon egg. Some of them have stripes, some of them have spikes. Some of them look like geodes. A couple even have spots.
They all have one thing in common: touching them will make them hatch.]

Ohhh, you are something new, aren't you...? Seems to be organic in nature, not some clever carving or facsimile.
[The Doctor squats down, stuffing his specs on his face while he continues to investigate the egg. He knows better than to touch something like this on the Plane. Well, at least within the first couple minutes of finding it, anyway.] Although...from the looks of you, someone would have a helluva time reproducing your shell. I wonder what you are...

[Menzies comes up behind him, arms crossed over her chest and watching his investigations in interest. so far, she's been steering well clear of the eggs because she most definitely doesn't trust them. however, this doesn't mean that she's not curious, and she has a feeling if anything can safely learn more about these eggs, it'll be the Doctor's technology]

Hmm? Oh, hullo! [He throws her a smile and turns immediately back to the egg.] And yes, well, obviously. [Carefully, he tucks the sonic screwdriver back into his inside jacket pocket.] It's an egg, one of many. And there are definite life-signs coming from within, but nothing that indicates what it is, or if it's ready to come out. Never seen anything like it before. Eggs usually aren't this beautiful. No reason for them to be, you know? Well, unless they're Easter eggs or ones that people have hollowed out and carved gorgeous designs on, that is. But naturally? Nothing like it.
[He reaches out a hand just then to touch the top of the egg.] It's warm. [And then there's a sudden sound, like a crack. His eyes widen.]

[and then he touches the egg--and it's followed by a cracking sound. she jumps] Oi, be careful with that!
