[The silence of space is shattered suddenly as a hard banging sound echoes across the plane. One single solid bang until-

Again.

Again again again again. It repeats for a handful of minutes before fading into quiet. As it does, on the plane appears a truly gigantic looking canine carrying a sign in his mouth. He places it down near the kiosks and disappears.

[Menzies is smirking at him. she's glad to see him, really] Enjoy your holiday?

Yeah. I got some reading done. [Hi there, Menzies. He's gonna go over there for a hello.] Keeping track of all the good trouble I hope?

Nothing else I'd rather do. And it looks like you're just in time for a whole new batch of it! Lucky you.

[most_feared]

So I heard. But I think this time I'm around here by accident. Nobody disappeared and I completely didn't even think about this place until I just showed up again. [He sounds almost genuinely apologetic about it possibly being an accident.]

[grip_on_reality]

[for her part, she looks a little disappointed, although she keeps that out of her tone] So this place just didn't want to let you forget about it, huh? Some "technical difficulties."

[most_feared]

Seems to be the case. But I could lend you a hand as long as I'm here. [He has nothing better to do than stand on the sky.]

[grip_on_reality]

All right, sure. [not that she really knows what they can do about their current problem other than wait for people to start disappearing again] I was just thinking it's about time I had a pint. Think you could lend me a hand with that?

[most_feared]

I would love to. [He gives her a friendly smile. Look, see? He can do that! Screw you, Jay. Full of lies anyway.] Lead the way.

[grip_on_reality]

[well, he's in a surprisingly good mood for having been pulled here again. but Menzies isn't going to protest; she just nods and starts toward the bar]

Have there been any more disappearances since you left this place?

[she's also not particularly good with small talk]

[He's not as cranky as he lets on. He has to keep up appearance. Plus a drink with the lady with nice accent.] No, none for me. Heard there was another mess of 'em for the people still here.

[...This isn't small talk? You're supposed to do something else?]

[she's glad to be spending time with an adult for once. sometimes she wonders if the kids are going to overrun this place]

Yeah, sounds about right. [she pauses thoughtfully] You left before we started talking to Grey, right? Did you see the whole mess with the candy?

[that's true; at least they're on the same page when it comes to conversation topics!]

Yeah, I missed Grey. Didn't see much of what happened with the candy. I can guess none of it good.

[He's glad at least it kept the bar for some unknown reason.]

[grip_on_reality]

[Menzies' expression is wry as she enters the bar] That's one way to put it. People's worst fears were coming true--not the best experience I've had here so far. [not the least of which because she couldn't risk going home while it was going on. she just hopes their current troubles don't turn into something like that]

Grey runs the shop, and he knows how to find the monster that's chewing people's hands off. But wouldn't you know, he says he'll only show the way to someone special--whatever that means. [she takes a seat at the bar]

And I take it he ain't gonna define special for you easily. [He slips over to where he can eyeball the drinks but it's a pretty good bet he'll go for beer or whiskey.]

Wonder if he wants someone that can kill it or won't kill it. Or it just won't like the taste of.

[grip_on_reality]

[Menzies frowns as she pours herself a pint of whatever is on tap] Interesting idea. So maybe no matter who you are, if you want to stop the murders, you won't be able to find the creature. [she makes a face] Certainly would make our job harder. [she sighs, taking a drink]

Had a case of the bummed so slacked off on tags today.

Just means w- you gotta get someone that has no interest in stopping the murders and wants to play with a big oversized kitty to give it a go. That's my best bet anyway. Might be off.

[Ignore he almost said "we". He's getting a beer for himself. He pops off the cap and takes a swig as he's thinking on it.]

[she glances at him but doesn't mention it, although she's smiling faintly, amused]

Sounds like a piece of cake, then.

It's probably something special then. Whatever's takin' people. [Because why else would it need a specific person to see it.]

You mean aside from the size of its teeth?

But yeah, probably. Or somewhere special. Or both. [definitely a topic she's been thinking about]

He chuckles at the teeth thing. To him? Not that special. He could name a bunch of people with that tooth range off the top of his head [Yeah, people, not monsters though].

So okay, this Gray guy knows where to find it. It's able to go to everyone's worlds, so it's got access to the Plane. This didn't start until after we found the books in the library, right? With the mean ass apes guarding them?

[grip_on_reality]

[she nods] And it might not just have access to the Plane; it could be here--in some place we can't get to. Not normally, anyway.

[Menzies raises an eyebrow] Well, that's a new one. Don't think I was 'ere yet for that, so yeah, after's a safe bet.

[most_feared]

[Something about Menzies' accent amuses him. You know. As if he doesn't have his own accent.]

I was in the library with a couple of Time Lords. The Doctor and the Master. [and it was a little like the three Stooges were given technology.]

[that's okay, Americans amuse Menzies in general]

[she snorts] "The Master"? Do all Time Lords go for pompous and mysterious, or 'ave we just been lucky enough to meet the pompous and mysterious ones?
